This year I am taking part in the Staples2Naples 2006, The Original Banger Rally for Wage Slaves.

Accompanying me is my mate Alex and together we will be TEAM DINGLE-BERRY No74 hurtling through Europe with our fingers crossed and a boot full of lucky charms. Perhaps spares would be a better idea??

The rally takes in 6 countries this year, including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Italy in 4 days and covers around 1500 miles.

Thats right, 1 Banger, 2 Drivers, 4 Days, 6 Countries and over 1500 miles....

...and WHY? Because we can!

The Route.
S2N2006 actually starts in Calais and will be winding through some of the most superb roads in Europe, including La Tremola which is the old S.t Gotthard pass. It's a small windy road with cobblestones all the way. Ideal for beaten up old cars. Taking in Stelviopass in Northern Italy will be optional and then spend two days hurtling through Italy, experiencing some of the worst driving in Europe.

Day 1 - September 22nd - Calais to Sarnen.
Day 2 - September 23rd - Sarnen to Tirano.
Day 3 - September 24th - Tirano to Viterbo.
Day 4 - September 25th - Viterbo to Somewhere north of Naples.

Remember - Points Win Prizes!! During the event we will be earning points from tasks and will all be entered in for: Biggest Pile Of Rubbish, Longest Team to Hitchhike, Team Who Suffered The Most, Best Bodge too name a few.

Charity.

It is after all a charity event and we must raise money for our chosen organisation which is - CHECKYOURBALLS. Need I explain? If you would like to donate them cut and paste the link below;

The Trusty Steed.

Now this was a tough choice, trawling ebay for hours trying to get the bids in before the price broke the budget. . . The budget - Not mentioned that yet, the chosen vehicle can be worth no more than £100, thats right £100!

We took the path of comfort, style and a sunroof in the form of a White 1987 Mercedes 300se! Nice from a far but far from nice!

Bought unseen off ebay, collected from a wet car park in Clacton with a supposed 132,000 miles - I was a little concerned but she stormed home and now i'm hooked!!

Bye for now, will update later.

presumably as a cooling device for your own treasure chest.

Good luck.

I can't be the only one with a sneaking admiration for this lad's pluck,
Someone else must be able to wish him lighthearted luck.

Or has he suddenly reminded us of something we'd rather not think about.

Looks like the car mats are wearing better than the seats

No - not at all.

I'd love to have the time to do it - sure the lads with have a brill time.

Am sure the S is going to romp it.

Very best of luck.
