W140 soft closing.

Hi everybody, I have a 1993 S320. The soft closing seldom works, however if I remove the relevent fuse from the fusebox in the boot and refit it straight away it will work for 3 or 4 closings. I can't hear any hisses or leaks from the vacuum system. Its as if something is reenergised when the fuse is replaced.Any help would be great as this is the only ' toy' that does'nt work. Have checked loads of these, every time it is (I'm afraid) the pump in the boot - fitted behind the trim nearest the back seats roughly below the n/s/rear headrest. seems if you give them a rest for a bit they work for a bit and stop, maybe you will see something not connected properly, but usually its a new unit sir!.
