220D gearbox

My gearbox is making a highpitched noise and I don't want to tackle all those cogs. I have located one from a scrap dealer but for a petrol engined 220, are the ratios the same? *It looks like it will fit - at least the bell housing seems right.

The ratios are exactly the same for the petrol and the diesel boxes. *I would try and get the later five speed manual box which also fits, but might be difficult to find. *The original box on your car was the four speed manual, of course.

I think Don means a petrol 200 as I have never heard of a 220 petrol.
