I'm sure many of you have had similar problems. Can anyone suggest a fix.
I have the Mercedes remote locking keyfob, and the red/green telltale lights on the rear view mirror and the drivers door handle.
The batteries in the keyfob are fine. The problem occurs with both keyfobs, so I assume this eliminates them as the cause.
At a now increasing frequency I have the following problem.
1) Unlock car with fob - red and green lights flash and stay flashing
2) Try to start car - it's immobilised
3) If I insert the key in the ignition, turn it one click - wait for 10 secs or so - turn it back - the red light MAY stick on, with no green light OR both lights go out.
4) If both lights go out I can start the car.
5) If I can't start the car I have to disconnect the battery and wait a couple of minutes before reconnecting it and this will cure the problem FOR A TIME!
6) After a day or two the fault returns...and it's driving me mad!
I've had the car for 5 years, and the frequency of this problem is increasing. It must be a component breaking down somewhere?
