Which HT leads should I buy?

My king lead (cap to coil) has worn and is arcing against the air filter box. I can replace that one lead from MB for £19 or go to ECP and buy what is described as OEM Bremi set for £38.50 plus VAT.

I have seen the advice on previous threads on only using genuine parts, but these are the same brand as the MB ones.

Any advice/experince would be appreciated.

ECP have a habit of calling most "reasonable quality" items OEM.

The originals are either Bosch or Beru (never heard of "Bremi")

If you go and get a set of Bosch leads you won't go far wrong, especially if it's only for the king lead you're after, but the original MB ones usually have a metal screen around the spark-plug connection leads, which you will be hard-pressed to find on replacement leads. To some extent you do get what you pay for.

I recently had to buy an inidividual lead as the end had come off! I bought it from MB and it was badged Bremi and had the MB logo, I had to order it in and they made it to measure, I actually had to buy it as three components, the two ends and the wire. It matched the existing ones on the car.

Has anyone else used these Bremi leads sold by ECP?

Where can you buy the Bosch ones from?

looks like I stand corrected about Bremi...

Most motor factors carry Bosch sets and I think also Halfords. If you don't find a ready-made set, you can also buy the lead wire and ends, which screw into the wire, like your king lead.

I reckon i'll go and look at these ECP Bremis, if they look the same and have the metal ends etc. I'll give them a go otherwise get some Bosch ones.

When i had the 190E i put Bosh leads on her but they were too thick for fitting in the groove in the rocker cover run them for six months or so and then replaced them with Bremi from ECP they had the steel shields at the end and were the correct thicness and length etc. Genuine MB ones at that time (5 yrs ago) were sold in the three seperate parts and amounted to £80.

My advice would be go for the ECP ones and iff you have any problems try buying the seperate bits from MB starting with the wire.

Bremi from Euro car parts are ok I have used them on lots of cars.

I was wrong about the leads I bnought from the dealer they are Beru, but the ones on it now are Bremi and have mercedes logos on.

I will try the ECP ones and see how I go
