I would expect to pay less for a manual model........Auto's are more desirable

I too was always a 'manual' man and opted for a manual C270Cdi - this was fine until I borrowed a C220CDi Coupe with auto as a courtesy car for a couple of weeks. I enjoy my driving and don't hang around but to me the auto was perfectly suited to the diesel engine so don't dismiss it.

With regard to residuals I'm London based and paid under the odds for a manual as they don't sell down here whereas if you head up north or into the sticks the price gap between the two narrows considerably.

After driving cars with a manual box for over 40 years I now have my first automatic and I wouldn't give it up for the world. They are so stress reducing and yet can be so responsive when needed.
Go on - forget manual and find something else for your left hand (and foot) to do.

With Mercs Automatics are more desirable, they hold their value better. This is my first Auto in 18 years driving and with a Merc wouldn't buy any other.

Have you tried a hill start in a manual Merc?

The diesel engines and auto boxes are like a marriage made in heaven...would not go manual. The Merc is the first auto I have, very conducive to relaxed driving.......
