Trying to source the front number plate holder for a CLS W219, 2006 model with the amg front bumper, the bumper was added at some time before my ownership.

No luck on here or an auction site and Mercedes want my first born, which if push comes to shove, well she is 23 !

Is there any difference with the amg number plate holder shape to the standard CLS number plate and if so where can I get one ?

I have the front plate stuck on with tape and it letting the car down.

Thanks :D

Thanks for the quick reply :D

I phoned the local Mercedes branch today and they said they could supply the part for £83 + vat, that is only the front number plate holder.

Anyone else stock item 110 ?

Thanks :D

I have actually removed mine! Its an awful large unnecessary piece of plastic which is screwed onto the bumper, and then the number plate holder screwed onto that, into which the number plate fits. Why not just buy a number plate holder and attach it to the bumper, or just use adhesive pads to fix plate to bumper.

I would fit a number plate holder if it could form itself to the shape of the bumper, I just have a number plate with adhesive pads fiited now and you can see the pads when standing above the plate, is there something out there that can just tidy this up ?

Thanks :D

You can buy holders that if you warm them up the will bend the the shape of the bumper, do the same with the plate and less strain on the adhesive sticky pads

Thank you Abb, I had seen that before but didn't think it was worth it.

It's amazing how it looked so much better last night after a Nando's and a bottle of red after reading your post ;)

Thanks:D

Used to have a C63...
How did you get on with this Sparky?

Am looking at a similar situation on my C63 - exposed screws hold the front number plate on... Would like to get some holders but not sure there's enough flex for the front bumper!

With holders it depends on how they open. I just bend the plate with heat and use the sticky pads. With my AMG bodied SL the MB holder worked OK

On my CL just sticky pads

Thanks Malcolm. If it's worked on your SL, then I guess it should work on the 63 - its a sharper "V" than I thought.

Will try dipping them in warm water for 10 mins first...

My CLS had the mounting plinth on the front bumper, so when MB Plymouth threw in the holders when I bought number plates, it was an easy fit.

I don't have that plinth on the C63.

If the holder protrudes too far it can cause problems with the PTS system. I thought I read in WIS or STAR one can change a setting to overcome this. Easier though to fit a thinner holder!

It is worth getting that plinth to mount it all on, my SL one got smashed from a lady that could not park. I got the replacement and it was not a perfect fit, but I was able to file the plinth to fit the sharp V on the bumper.

I had to bend my plate holder a fair bit before putting the screws in the corner, the pressed metal plate just needed a bend over my knee and it fitted beautifully. I was quite surprised at how 'pointy' the front of my W211 was :D
