ok heres a bit of a query. ive had prices (not quotes as such) over the phone from numerous insurers/brokers to see how they compare for price. 1 particular well known broker (not sure if I can name names here) who specialise in modified cars etc (mine isn't) has come back with a VERY good price. HOWEVER ive only just started the process and would like to get other companies including my current insurer (forum sponsor) the chance to match or beat my price I have been given.

THIS is where my problem is. the company that gave the good price over the phone will NOT send anything in writing, so I'm struggling to get anyone to try to better their 'menu' prices, including my current insurance team.

anyone got any suggestions?

Will they email you if you phone again and ask them to?

They know the game, playing one off against the other isn't new.

Just tell them x has quoted y they will either match, beat it or leave it.

As with all purchases its not price its value that rules "you don't get what you pay for" so often with Insurance.

My home Insurance from the same company is so much better when taken out online this time last renewal it wasn't.

Thats is not right as i have found .I need to get my NCB just the same .I want my no claims bonus total up to date. So i can get another quote
I was cought out when i looked for insurance to be told i would have to start afresh. The reason was, As i had sold my car , and i did not owne one for 12 monthes . That i would have to start all over again .So i lost all my no claimes bonus after 5o years with out a claim. Even though i was insured on the wifes insurance to drive her Z350 .

Two years is the norm before NCB is lost some three years so you should be able to get that back.

on paper, at least, the 2 policies were similar, but it grieves me having to pay £50 extra! current insurers wont price match without proof and all I can give them is a photo of a text message at best sent today, with a reference number

I have a similar issue - I have not ever had an insurance claim (driving for 46 years) where I was at fault (3 where others were). I have not had a car for going on two years now & my wife currently has the only car in the family for which, I am a nominated driver which does not count towards keeping my NCB valid (quite convenient for the insurance companies so that they can charge me more when I do get a car). However, if I was to have an accident in my wife's car, I bet it will impact her NCB.

Insurance companies will gouge you whenever and wherever they can!

Pleasantly surprised my current insurers have quoted £388 for the E63 fully comp, protected NCD. Large ish excess though 350 + 550, 900 total... happy enough
