Getting my first Mercedes a new C200 Sport in a couple of weeks and with the minimum finance of 5k MB finance were giving a £2,877 incentive on top of the dealer's healthy discount. This week I went in to sign the finance document and the incentive has increased by another £589.00 :D
Full retail including otr is with my extras £34,495.00
I'm paying £26,701.00 which includes the 5k on finance and £700.00 P/ex on a 55 Reg wife's Micra.
Well it is my 65th birthday next week and this seems a pretty good present. :D
BTW next week I'm borrowing from the dealer's a C200 D sport for 6 days so I can familiarise myself to my new car.

My sister-in-law just traded an `04 Ka against a £8k Renault Captur and she got the princely sum of £40 for her old motor which had covered >40k and was a one owner vehicle.

I am waiting to see whats offered for a friends 2015 S Class any guesses ?

Mint, around 20,000 miles reclining rear seats, panoramic roof, media stuff, leather upgrade allsorts and on 18" wheels for comfort.
Its a long wheelbase 350d.
Its all too black for me.

I'd have given it away first

Me too perhaps there should be a charity that took these cars and repurposed them for something, £40 is something of an insult.

Tell them I'll give them a grand for it, save them all the hassle of trade ins and such....;)

It's a meaningless number really, they could give a £2k trade in on the Micra on paper and pass on less deductions off the new car price...

Only the change over price matters, this is how the general public get bamboozled by car salesman tricks...

Still the OP seems to have got a decent deal in this occasion.

They'll sell it for more so as its such an insult I'd give it away to the first teenager I saw walking down the street and deny the dealer the profit.

It certainly is , she paid £4999 for it 13 years ago but figured that £32 per month depreciation over her ownership isnt too bad, which to be fair it isn`t compared to some.

She just wanted to drive in , drop the Ka off and drive away in the Captur.

What we did manage to negotiate to sweeten the deal was , two years MOT + servicing , they paid to tax the car , some fuel , a much better rate of finance than they initially proposed but absolutely not a penny more for the Ka.

She seemed pleased so that is what matters , plus it saved me trailing around cold and wet forecourts with her on my days off.

They are the kiss of death though, and they do like a drop of rust. However £40 !! that was a cheap cheap car, and as a part exchange ?.

Like you, I would rather have given it to one of my grandchildren, assuming it was road worthy !

It's an odd price though as these days normally they do the deal on the new car and then buy your old one off you at basic trade price.

We "threw-away" a 52 plate Micra not long ago - got £35 for scrap. Still had 4 months MOT too.

The one I was dismayed by was daughter's lovely little 7yr old Mitsubishi Colt. Owned from new and the dealer looked up WBAC's price and offered us £50 more - £1100. At the time they retailed £2-3K. I was tempted to try from the front of our house, but it did have some hidden issues that I wouldn't have liked to get on the wrong side of.
