So to sum up Ms Millar's sole reason for her and the Pimlico plumber et als action was to frustrate the outcome of a Democratic vote which she/they disagreed with.
In the process wasting our money why do you persist in trying to paint black as white its pointless ?

You got it wrong why not just admit it and move on ?

Her own words point clearly to her reasons for starting the action which she won I don't deny it but it was a pointless Pyrrhic victory and joins the many other actions to try and disrupt democracy through the house of commons.

The Lib Dum rump in the Lords will no doubt try to disrupt the process as well.
They have have campaigned on many issues one wonders what irrelevance will be dragged up to go to their motive

I don't blame her/them for having a go if she/they feel so strongly about leaving the EU.

Pointing out that she has also bought the big issue and said some people get paid to much etc doesn't really go to the motive question for this action does it ?

Do you realise that by your accusation that she was motivated politically, you are are implying that the High Court judges (verdict 8 to 3 which is a heck of a lot higher percentage than the Brexit referendum result!) are therefore politically motivated against this Tory government?
- Historically there might have been a grain of truth in the opposite, but Appeal Court Judges opposing a Tory government for political reasons?

It's academic but it's you who should admit it - you're wrong (not LK) - by 8:3 the judges agreed that no PM has the right to take such action without parliamentary approval - we don't have the Executive Order option in this country, yet!

Ms Miller and others paid their own real money to go to court.

Mrs May used ours on a diversionary tactic giving a nice little earner to the legal eagles. Personally, I think you should be more indignant at the flagrant waste of taxpayers money on the appeal which left the government having to do what they should have done in the first place!

As I posted earlier, I feel sure she was told she would lose - if she wasn't she needs to get shot and replace her legal advisers very quickly - there will be a huge amount of European legal matters to deal with and if this is an example of the advice she receives then we're in dead trouble!

Gina Miller won the day in court and was proven to be correct but I very much doubt she is only interested in that all democratic issues are dealt with correctly.

I feel pretty sure that had she voted to leave she would not have pursued this with such vigour.

As to the other person in the court case just because he said he voted to leave does not make it so.

Let's be honest unless you are a multi millionaire with loads of spare cash and money could you would you want to take this to court.

That said the court did help with the SNP situation.

We are leaving the EU and although I did vote to leave I can understand that some will be very upset with the situation.

I really did not expect the vote to go this way and neither did most of the political establishment.

We really need those that voted remain to grieve their loss and then really get down to working towards the best deal we can get from the EU.

The EU is going through an awful stage at the moment and much harder times to come and until the leaders realise that it's time to be realistic and start listening to the views from within then it seems doomed to me.

There are many on here much more interested and knowledgeable in politics than I but this is my gut feeling.

EU federalist Guy Verhofstadt's confusing 20 minute interview on Newsnight last week.

Actually talking about a Euro army and more EU as the solution to prevent the break up of the EU.

They put him in charge of 'negotiations'

I've got his latest book which he references on the programme, I haven't yet made the time to read it but, by Jove, I'm going to

In other good news, Juncker has said he won't stand for another go in charge of the EU

Once a federalist always a federalist. it's instructive to see the USA and compare Europe to that. Sometimes it's hard enough to keep the USA united and the political price can be horrendous, and that's a people who (mostly) share language, culture and general direction. trying to get Europe united like that will either be completely unworkable, or if it did happen, so internationally undesirable as to become a major threat to the two powers to the east and west.

I wonder if the EU will have more luck chasing the contributions for their army than Nato.

Verhofstadt says just that in the interview and states, essentially, that if his controlling federalist programme isn't followed, and respected, we'll get another situation which lead to the last Eurowar.

It's instructive. He's a futurist threatening the present with a repeat of situations which happened in the past.

Seriously, watch the interview. He gets quite aerated towards the end, combative almost.

Verhofstadt appears to be drunk on power whereas Junker is just drunk'd up most of the time. Allegedly.

March 15th is the next event on the horizon.

That'll come after the 15th which is the Dutch elections.

We'll see if May has any cojones and if she has a sense of humour depending on how close to the 25th March she triggers everyone ;)

I see that self-serving toady Blair is in the news again. He does like to get himself some publicity on a regular basis.

Odious man. Rise up? And what, civil war? Fool.

Whats up !

Mr Blair has called on people who voted remain based on fear and misinformation should have a chance to vote again.

"British people voted without knowledge of the true terms of Brexit and that as these become clear, “it is their right to change their mind”.

Scare stories of immediate recessions have proven to be incorrect millions were mislead.

Or have I misread it :rolleyes:

Not the words but maybe the meaning... Mr Blair clearly needs another after-dinner speaking tour or some broadsheet articles to bolster his income. I can't see him doing anything that isn't in his own direct best interests.

Good old Tony, his opinion is just what we need. After all he sorted out the economy didn't he - oh no, wait a minute? Well he sorted out the Gulf region, that's all going splendidly - oh no, my mistake! Still, he can surely sort out Brexit?

The government must be quaking in their boots!

This through from our currency exchange folks today:

"This week we have seen economic data that was slightly disappointing on the whole. The two big figures in the form of inflation and average earnings both failed to hit expectations. What was highlighted was that the rates of inflation and wage growth are now converging. If this trend continues over the next few months, household incomes will be squeezed, having a negative effect on consumer spending. We must take into consideration that consumer spending is a significant part of the UK economy.
The only really significant news flow for the day was that Swiss investment bank UBS has decided to maintain its forecast for GBP/EUR to hit parity by the end of 2017. Despite the resilience of the UK economy, UBS are basing their forecast on an interruption of a “Hard” Brexit undermining that resilience.
Looking at the calendar today we have the release from the UK of retail sales on Friday. This is expected to reverse some of the negative reading that we saw last month."

As opposed to the public being given no say whatsoever as he signed away more control to Brussels, gave away part of our rebate and pushed us further down the rabbit hole with no mandate to do so, mostly because he was after a senior position in the EU heirachy, and was interested in making himself a few million from the endeavour.

Odious self serving war mongering lying toad.
