Where it should be anyway?

What, the amp? It's buried somewhere dire. Parcel shelf, rear seat, C pillar trim Ann have to come out to access it, which is why I'm rather keen to use it "in place" if at all possible.

Just been looking for a signal booster that I can fix inside the trunk :p lid trim, that looks possible although a potential right pig of a job.

Hehe!!!

Well, I have a proper car kit so want to make use of it. Looking at the existing antenna booster, it probably won't work. There is no function for 3 or 4G. So I would have to mount an antenna inside the trunk trim, run a cable for that (that'll be fun) beyond the rear seats back and inside the cabin to a retransmitter, and supply that with 12V DC.

And then get the Visseeo to audio quality fixed.

The good news is that the signal boosters are around £100-140 so not massively expensive... finding room for the retransmitted might be fun though. My first thoughts are under the parcel shelf.

Can anyone tell me if the parcel shelf on a 215 is non metallic?

I just found out. Resin impregnated mounded fibre, same as the door cards. That's EM transparent so a retransmitter can go there. Now I just need a power supply. Is there a fusebox in the boot?

Craig, I think the easiest (not the cheapest) solution may be to buy the Mercedes SAP device, which will work with the car's antenna. As far as I recall, the Viseeo only works with the phone's antenna.

Do check that you have the dip switches set correctly. I am sure I read at some point that Mic issues can be solved by adjusting that.

Also, I think there is a scroll wheel on the side of the Viseeoeoeoe that affects the microphone gain. I had the 3000 in my CL and never had any issues with call quality.

There is no easy answer for the signal issue. The only way I can think of is a re-radiating antenna, like you say. You wouldn't have to run a wire that way, only one internal.

That said, I have not had good luck with those antennas before.

No, won't work. My COMAND is too old and I use an iPhone, neither of which the SAP is compatible with...

What have been your experiences Alex?

Is there a power supply nearby to the parcel shelf??

Also, me, and other people I have spoken to, have issues with the SAP cradle and 3G.

It works fine on 2g. On 3g it shows a signal but calls cannot be made. There appears to be no way to force 2g only mode.

I didn't use them in a car. I tried in a house with no signal. It made no difference.

Yes, should be an easy feed from the rear sam, underneath drivers side rear seat.

I had the same unit in my W215, worked perfectly after adjusting the volume whist the phone was connected.

Thanks for that. I shall fiddle tonight with it.

Ok. A quarter hour looking at the car with one of the electrical engineers has generated a plan. High boost antenna to be hidden in the rear bumper; cable routed up into boot trim to the re- radiating module on the underside of the parcel shelf; power taken from rear fusebox through rear seat back.

I can see this being fun!!!

Sounds like a plan. The only issue I see with that setup, is the 2 antennas may pick up each others signal, which will kill the performance.

Let me know which kit you end up going with.

They may do. I could shroud the re-radiating antenna on the underside though, maybe in an open faced aluminium enclosure which would solve that problem.

This antenna perhaps... http://www.connextech.co.uk/710259---alldisc-high-performance-4glte-puck-antenna-1250-p.asp

This kit http://ukmobilesignalboosters.co.uk...e-1800mhz-signal-booster-for-100sqm-p-33.html

Thinking more, that kit has a separate rebroadcast antenna. That could be isolated in the parcel shelf in an enclosure entirely separate to the control module.

Hmm hmm hmm.
