Uk airspace is heavily regulated and licenced, MOD also utilises much of the 5ghz bandwidth and have overriding authority should they see someone encroaching their bandwidth, trust me it's everso fun to try setting up wifi anywhere near MOD sites especially though with radar facilities.

Got a 2005 model CL and I'm using a US sourced adaptor with an iPhone 6+ and I'm sure it uses the cars aerial, will need to check in the morning to confirm it that, but I never have a problem with signal

I'd be interested to know your adaptor, Noel!

The Iphone 6 does not have mobile antenna input and does not support the SAP bluetooth profile, so unless the poster has split his phone open to add a pigtail, I think somebody may be mistaken.

The unit was bought on eBay from a Spanish dealer who sources them from the US. Cost £150 and its been paired for over a year now with my both mine and the wife's iPhone 6+.

Hopefully a pic, may be upside down!
I've got command with the wide screen (APS?) , and it is def an iPhone 6
The unit is in the UHI slot, and it doesn't/can't take a SIM card (no slot)
Never had a problem with signal, over and above the usual dead points between Peterborough and Oundle........

Ok. The UHI is just the equivalent of my Visseeeeeooooooo dongle, it connects my phone to the car kit.

Where I live the cellular service is shocking, so I really need all the help I can get...

No apologies necessary Noel. It's quite a complex little subject when one starts getting into it, I've learnt a lot over the last few days!

Hehehe....that garage queen has you wrapped around her little ABC strut!!:D

No no, it's more that I'm a right awkward b**tard and I don't admit defeat quickly or easily if ever... I am using her as daily commute and not being able to make calls is a bit of an irritation to say the least.

Craig, is there a better network locally for you?

No. I've actually checked the Ofcom map of cellular coverage against the roads I usually travel on and surprise surprise I just have to use the worst connected roads in Bedfordshire. That said the service around here is pretty shocking.

Hi Craig
I bought a
Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Adapter
Mercedes part number:
B6 788 0000
If you have a mobile prewiring, it just slots into the glove compartment.

https://www.commandonline.co.uk/Mercedes_Bluetooth_HFP.html

I have an oldish iPhone 6S Plus.
The reception is fine and all the integrated telephone features work with the Command perfectly.

When first installed, it took 4 mins to sync a huge address book, but now it active by the time I have started the car and put my seatbelt on :)

I understand it doesnt use the cars antenna which is a shame but the phone reception is pretty good .. good enough for me.

I dont like 2nd hand stuff but bought it in eBay, was listed as mint perfect boxed etc. And it was. Paid £180 I think.

A pretty simple ... obviously approved solution

Reception has been fine in a rectangle from Oxford to Southampton to Manchester and London
