Buying some ACF50 will get rid of some of that metal oxidising that's under the front of the engine cover . Very nice work :)
I have some ACF50 which I used on the few rust spots that I found, didn't know it would clean the oxidising so thanks for the tip.

It doesn't so much clean it ...more mask it with a sheen which seems to prevent further deterioration and most importantly makes it look good .

Bourght a 150 piece empty tool box from Halfords to try and sort out my sockets into some form of order . Ive spent 30 years buying stuff from different sources .
Wish I was starting from scratch , I would just buy a Halfords Advanced 200 piece kit all in one box .

Absolutely agree.
And I did the same thing by buying an empty case, but only a 60 piece set.
Wish I had started from scratch.
Because nearly every job you find there is that one socket you just don't have, so even more investment ... in the least cost effective way.
But with most of the tools on hand, you feel you feel you cant justify a total new set and oodles of replications.

Drove down to Italy & back. 2,500 faultless miles, apart from Italian knob not knowing how wide his Fiat Panda was and clouting my door mirror (not broken the glass but seems to have busted something inside because it's a bit wobbly although still secure), and a bit of hesitation whilst in traffic (probably crap petrol). Other than that it was top down bliss and I want to do it again tomorrow (but should earn some money first to pay off the Sanef & Telepass toll charges).

After a day of bad news that cheered me up.
Remember our 4 Euro trips very fondly ...
Likewise had flawless motoring on all 4.

Glad to hear it all went well.

To be pedantic Lammermuir hills, but lovely driving around there in an SL, totally suits the car's character. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm quite stunned at the 30.1mpg never got near that when I had mine!

Just bourght a litre of MB power steering fluid , as one of the cars needs a tiny top up , I think I will suction 0.5L out of each car and replace it with the new stuff , otherwise it will just sit in the garage for 10 years until I throw it away .

I got 30.1mpg out of my SL500 when I collected it from Manchester driving it to North Herts. Kept to motorway speeds all the way.
