Hi all,

Im going to needing some 225/45/17 tyres for the C200 soon and just wanted to collect your thoughts.

I recently found some very decent budget tyres, named Three-A P606, great raving reviews online and very well priced (around £40-£45 per corner fitted). So much so, that I now run these on my wife's Astra-J.

My question is, would you have any issues running these on a Mercedes, which is a stronger and heavier car, or is a tyre a tyre, if its good for one its good for another? If so, what?

We are coming up to Service and MOT time so dont want to break the bank, but dont want to compensate safety, etc.

Would be great to hear your feedback.

Thanks.

I put 17" Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics on my C220 S204 a couple of years ago, really happy with them. Car is whisper quiet, grip is good wet and dry, and they are wearing really well, still got plenty of tread on them. Bought online from Germany, fitted locally for £10 per corner. I think the F1 has been superceded and it's now F3.

Different cars require tyres with the correct load rating for the particular car.

I wouldn't call those raving reviews....
Most positive comments were tempered with a value statement (as in good tyres for the cost).

Having suffered the joys of cheap Chinese tyres in the past I'd go for something else (after all - the only thing keeping you from becoming part of the scenery is four little rubber contact patches.).

Taking Asda tyres as competitive prices for fully fitted (Blackcircles similar) I'd not want to drop below £70 or so for the Avon ZV7... and my personal choice would be to go £10 more for Dunlop/Goodyear/Hankook/Uniroyal.

Fair enough you already have the cheapies on the second car but I'd not do it with the Mercedes.

Have a look at Tyreleader and Camskill for some. Good online prices . And as above only buy tyres people have heard of :D .
A few months ago , I think I paid £50 each for some Uniroyal Rainsports in that size from camskills with £10 fitting at my local garage

Thank you. Avon ZV7 was the other one on my list, as was the Nexen. If I can get the Avon for around £55 a corner, that would be my preference.

Just purchased Uniroyal RS 3 from Camskills for my Mercedes S, best price around and next day delivery, these are the tyres that most people on here have recommended for Mercedes

The last time I had Uniroyal Rainsports, granted it was a Vauxhall, they used to drone as soon as they started to wear, and it was an absolute nightmare. In fact, everytime I have had directional tyres I have never really got on with them.

RS3 is not a directional pattern. I've worn a set out on my SL and they don't drone at all.

And I thought £60 a corner for my Smart's 15" tyres was good
