My Indie wants to replace the transmission lines that connect to the rad at the front...He has told me he needs to take off the front bumper to do it and that i may need a new rad as well if the connector is seized.
Has any one any idea if this is something i can do myself or is it really that difficult? has anyone got a procedure breakdown please?

are the lines leaking? and yes the radiator may need to come off if there is not enough room, sometimes the connector seizes and breaks when opening but shouldn't happen if careful, I am no expert but thats my opinion, maybe someone else here can also give an input

It's a fiddly job, easier with rad pack out. They are just a ouch and snap in firing and can corrode badly.

Yes the lines are leaking.
And if I can replace them without removing the front bumper even better..

Omg I hate predictive txt. They are just a push fit, and the fitting can corrode in the rad.

I always take the bumpers off, it doesnt take long and I hate struggling.

I find you try and short cut by not taking something off, you end up spending just as much time struggling in a tight space. Stuff that.

bumper came off easily and i managed to change lines although the top line was almost welded in and required delicate manipulation to remove without damage....
Changed the filter and cleaned sump....filled with 6 litres of transmission fluid. Started it up but no drive in any gear....wondering if i crossed lines at bottom of rad but would this make a difference and is it possible that i over filled it.I was unable to find a drain hole on the torque converter so assume it dosent have one. there is a fill tube at the back of the engine.

This diagram isn't appearing to show which Radiator end tube goes to which line..it appears to suggest that it dosent matter.
Parts changed where number 10 and 20

the lines attach to the transmission on opposite sides which isn't obvious from the diagram and there are no banjo fittings at transmission..i currently have the lines hooked up with the lower radiator connector running to what appears to be lowest union with transmission..passenger side

Did you fit the filter correctly and it hasn't dropped. Why fill with 6ltrs oil if you didn't drain tc?

Wow how stupid do i feel!! ok so i filled the transmission with nothing...just added 6 litres of expensive transmission fluid through the oil filler at the back of engine ....guess i have too fill it from the drain hole. I'm assuming that when it overflows from the drain hole its full?

A little knowledge is dangerous and could have been costly if your engine had run away because of overfill of a gallon. As we now know it's a 7speed, it's filled from under the car. Did you leave the pedestool attached to sump?

I have seen this done so many times its frightening. Best be draining the engine oil out double quick time as well.

The level is set based on temperature and flow from the sump bung. That is why the pedastool is there. It is filled from the sump bung yes. The oil level is set with the transmission no more that 50'c
