I'm looking to sell my 2010 Flint Grey, black leather CL500 in the next couple of weeks so thought I'd pop up a post and gauge interest.

I spent 5 months searching for the right one and have owned it since Nov 2015. In that time it has never let me down - annoying really as I have a very comprehensive Warranty Direct warranty on it (transferable and expires Jan 2018), but it gave me peace of mind. It did have a ball joint changed under the warranty about a year or so ago though, but aside from that it's very much been the best Merc I've owned.

I've had most of the AMGs (SL55, CL55, CLS55, C32) as well as a W215 Cl500 and even a 190E in my day.

Spec on this car is night vision, rear camera, heated and vented seats, full leather garage door/electric gates/work barrier opener in the rear view mirror and pretty much all the other goodies you'd get with a top spec CL including Blind Spot Assist, Distronic and Brake Assist. AMG kit from factory of course, including the 19's with matching Pirellis all round with plenty of tread.

No pics at the mo as I'm having the wheels fully stripped and powder coated on Wednesday and a small dent will also be sorted before it gets fully put up for sale.

Last service was Jan from memory and of course there will be a full MOT. All services are MB dealer or MB Wirral. Mileage is approx. 80,000 from memory.

Faults - only one, but in the interest of full transparency, the heated seat on the driver's side doesn't work. All lights light up but no heat comes through. The seat covers and heated pads were replaced by Merc under warranty 6 months before I bought the car, but I've subsequently had it on a Star machine and they advise it's the control module. They're £300ish new or come up on eBay from time to time for very little money. I've just not been fussed enough to get it fixed. Absolutely no other faults at all that I am aware of. If there were I would tell you and the vented seats work great.

As this is an enthusiasts' site I'd rather see if anyone's interested, before opening up to the great unwashed in t'internet land. I know there are people looking for W216 CL's and this is a really beautiful example. I'm looking for £18k and would consider an E220 CDI in P/Ex (wife has a new job).

I've not been on much in the last couple of years as there have been pretty much no problems to post about.

Please PM me if interested !

Cheers

Jonny

Sounds great , wish I was looking for one :D . Just a thought about your control module , would it not be better fixing that and adding £300 to your asking price , because with everything else that is being done (wheels/dent ) then you are selling a car with everything sorted .
Good luck with the sale

Did consider that, but it's not that much of an issue that it warrants the outlay for a new module and it'll give the new owner something to do. I always like improving a car when I get a new one ! Would be easy to just say everything works, as the lights light up, but I've never sold a car and had a new owner come back with an issue they weren't told about up front.

Why not get it fixed under your "very comprehensive" Warranty Direct Warranty ... for nothing .. might save the new owner £500 incl. labour.

And then it would be perfect. :):)

Or is that one of the items they exclude.... they tried to sell me a policy .. sounded OK until I discovered "all things ABC" (pump, valve blocks, nitro balls, and struts) are excluded!! ... so basically utterly useless.

The heated seats were one of the few exclusions on the policy. Funnily enough I could have paid a bit extra and had them covered with a few other minor incidentals, but declined paying the extra small premium as I didn't realise they didn't work !

I've had Warranty Direct on a number of cars and always had a very positive experience. They paid up for the ball joint straight away as wear and tear is covered.

Shame that, but glad you got the other item.
What I didn't like was their itemising of what is covered. I would just want the car covered period!
I didnt want o be in the position say the wing mirrors stop working and they then say its the lighting controller module and thats not covered as bulbs aren't covered etc.
Or as in your case, if they are covering the cars electrics ... and heated seats are standard, then how come its not covered .... are these exclusions deliberately selectively picked as they are the items that go wrong?
Er thats what you need warranty for.

The only benefit I see to their kind of policy is the peace of mind, if say there is a catostrophic engine failure ... then boy would that be useful!

Bin the W215 and W212 and buy that, keep the Hadley car for family stuff

Sadly the 212 is going in Feb and I'm undecided about replacement yet. I'm keeping my DA matrix running though...

I don't own the 212, it's a business lease so I won't make any £££ when it's returned; that leaves me with the 211 and 215. Selling the 215 won't gross me enough to buy much else (it'll net me -£6k as you know!) so my choices are:

Keep 2 cars, use 215 as commutingwagen. Saving £3k/yr over current.
Keep 211, sell 215, replace with something nice. Saving £1.5k/yr.
Ditto, but something cheap to run. Saving £6k/yr.
Keep 2 cars, buy a third (thinking C350). Cost neutral.

I knew the 212 was leased so use the £3k a year lease costs to upgrade the 215 to a 216 and keep the 211

So, only 5 years of running the 215 as a commuterwagen to afford a 216 then ;)

Well, my new driveway is around 1m shorter than all 3 of my current cars parked nose to tail.

So.............. I reckon, going deeply into man-maths for a sec... if I was to replace the 212 with a C350, it would fit. And it's tuneable ;)

Then I just need to find an additional contract or something to pay for it...

Wheels now sorted and literally as good as new ! No cheap blow over job that'll last 5 mins. These have a warranty that is transferable with the car for 12 months. Not often you get that with wheels !

No pics yet, going to get the slight dent sorted first, then MOT'd and then valeted...

Update - just checked the Warranty Direct cover and this expires on the 5th March 2018, so plenty of peace of mind.

If anyone would like to have a chat before it goes on eBay on Thursday, feel free to PM me. Open to a sensible offer :)
