Its a wide body, non-ducktail normally aspirated 996 C4S.
OEM ducktails not available on this model.

but definitely E-type roadster. looking at the vertical headlights id say a series 3 version

It was the depth of the air intake/grille, the headlights are not faired in, by that I mean they are not streamlined by a glass cowling over them. Those were the clues as far as I was concerned. There are possibly other clues but they were the ones that made me think V12

There were very few S3s made without the V12 so balance of probability for me.

fair enough. I just thought the bigger grille and headlights was a series 3 thing. saying that, the 4.2 I drove (1967 registered so I'm guessing a series 1) was plenty quick enough, especially considering it was 8 years older than me! no idea how much faster (where it matters rather than outright top speed) the V12 was, but it drove amazingly well for (at the time) a car almost 40 years old and one that had WORKED for its keep (it had a TOWBAR on it and was used by the farmer to tow a trailer to auction in its early days!!!)

I couldn't believe my eyes when the guy who had owned it (either personally or within the family) from new sold it for a 3.0 Marcos!!!

Have I missed something, there doesn't seem to have been a conclusion to this thread as to what I assume to be the final reveal ? :confused:
