A couple of reasons really.

Firstly, they have dropped of the valuation charts with CAP and Glasses as they are too old. So there is no definitive value to them when it comes to PX or retail pricing.

All AMG variants are starting to climb in price and vary because they are a bit of a special car. CLK55s and 63s comand big money still and there is a low mileage SLK32 on the market for £20k/ Because of this, they are worth what people are prepared to pay. Some are better than others.

I will be selling my SL55 in a month or 2's time. I need to do some work on it to get it presentable. Mine isn't the best example as its done 130k and had 8 owners (mostly in one family) but I bought it from an existing customer who had spent £6k on it with me in the 18 months he had it, 2 new struts and pipes, ABC pump, oil leaks fixed and a full service. Mechanically its really straight, the roof works and it doesnt leak in the boot. So in some ways its probably better than most! And I've had some great fun with it.

I was going to take it through Europe this year but having a baby on the way has put paid to that and it will be for sale soon!
Sell the baby keep the car, you will be much better off financially

The guy in Southampton has put down a deposit today. (100% I bet you it was because of my forum post on the the "other" side.)

Shame, as the red one looked cool.

Oh well, plenty more silver ones in the sea.

Hmmm... 4000 miles in 8 years (and most of them 5 years ago) and no MOT in 2011. I would be interested to know if it was all the same owner and then contact them to see why. In isolation I'd be a bit worried by that and very worried by the 2008 advisory and fails!

Doesn’t “one lady owner” mean “fcuked rims”? ;)

clk3202001,sl6002003 with everything regrettably sold ,A class 170cdi auto. NG/TF1800 ML250
the big difference in pricing i believe is generaly about condition and history. some are just a few owners in excellent condition and have fairly good history others are far from this . one can ussualy suss out the really genuine cars from the chancers, or at least i think i can . i looked at around ten cars over two yrs before settling on mine, and frankly i wanted the one i bought about five min after first looking at it . cos i knew it was well cared for and in pretty mint order ,as one would expect for less than 34k miles deffo , dont buy the first one you see. look at many , my only failing, doing it again i would probrably have passed on the abc , the ride and cornering are very good but i was happy enough with coils in all my other cars and in hindsight its just one too many complications ,benz did not give any consideration on how to drive it,at least to home, when it fails. even they have given up on the system. the sl350 has coils

Looks much better. At least it has the wind deflector.
MOT history looks good although budget for a front strut potentially in the future.
Yes looks much better. Wonder if it’s been for sale for a while - notice the temp in the pics shows +17.5o!
Could bargain that down if so

Okay, so lets forget the cars with questionable history. What about this one (Only one lady owner)? If I can knock them down on price, I'd be interested in this one for sure.

That looks like a nice car, certainly worth a look. It has the wind deflector which is essential as it makes a big difference to the buffeting in the car. It also has the rear luggage belts which i think became an option for this model year. Don't be fooled by the advertising, make sure you look at all the possible issues, ABC, boot seals, water in boot floor, water in passenger footwell and check the roof operation more than once.
