It does indeed have the deflector.

OP. It looks a decent enough car for the money. If you're interested see if you can arrange the car to be inspected by Steve at Avantgarde as he's not too far away.

Right! Well, I'll call Steve tomorrow and see if they can help out!

Exciting times!

Ditto LK, I am biased on the red leather as my ex Malcolm SL has that, KG, Pano and Distronic and HK..
Wheels are revolting!
Private seller who looks like he garages it...I have garage envy looking at that

If the seller would agree to bring it over, I would happily give it an inspection for you, put it on the ramp, star test it that kind of thing. Most traders would be, probably help with this about twice a month.

I wouldn't be able to go and visit the car, I just can't spare the time out at the moment.

Thanks mate -- but the seller hasn't the time (nor inclination) to take it so far. He says he works with some guys at Three Points and I've booked it in with them later this afternoon.

Fingers crossed I'll be hopping on the train tomorrow...!

One thing I always ask is "Is there anything wrong with the car at all, including mechanical, electrical, bodywork etc etc. I don't mind if there is, but would rather know about them before rather than after"

Most sellers I've ever dealt with then open up a lot more, than just saying "the car is in great condition all round". Get the faults listed on the receipt if you do buy it.

Good luck !

So it had an MOT today, (the mercedes check will happen tomorrow AM)

Looks like it failed first time and then had these advisories:

Mileage60,699 miles
MOT test number9988 8541 2330
Test locationunavailable until further notice

Reason(s) for failure
  • Nearside Front Headlamp aim too low and o/s/f (1.8)
Advisory notice item(s)
  • Nearside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit and o/s/f inner edges (4.1.E.1)
  • windscreen chipped
  • Nearside Rear brake binding
  • Nearside Front and o/s/f air shock absorbers ball joints lift
---

any thoughts? The ad does say that it apparently has "Nearly new tyres" so that's a bit dubious.

The only advisory of concern is the last one which could mean the car will shortly need a couple of front struts. Definitely get that checked out.

It's a 2 hours vehicle check I am getting tomorrow so they should let me know. How much for two new struts? 2K?
