2011 S350 Bluetec Limo

I love my S350 but my god does it like to play up...
It’s 2011 S350 bluetec L 3l diesel (W221)

problem 1
I have narrowed down to needing new n/s/f shock... Dealer want £827+vat for one... can anyone recommend a supplier/refurbisher that doesn’t require a mortgage

Problem 2..
This one has me stumped, started just occasionally steering would just be really heavy, now it’s all the time
I’ve read codes and it comes with as follows:
C004 No CAN message received from the control module ‘N49/3 (Electromechanical steering system control module) see picture
However I’ve looked through lists of error codes and can’t find this one... really hoping someone can shed some light.. in the nearly 9months I’ve owned this car I must only have had 1 trouble free months driving
Please please help

I know the feeling well with the 221!

N49/3 appears to be the steering angle sensor.

Are there any codes in the ESP control module for anything similar?

I haven’t any codes for/relating to ESP.. (thank god)
I was coming up with steering angle sensor, but seems vague in comparison to other messages that directly say ‘steering angle sensor’ steering angle sensor nearly £300 from dealer..
Do I try a 2nd hand of eBay £75-£160, bite bullet and buy from dealer or does anyone know where these can be sourced? All advice and recommendations greatly received

Jay Manek (Mercland) recommended these to me, as he uses them all the time.
Problem with Arnotts now is you have to buy through AD, mainly ECP so their prices have shot up.

I’ve noticed price difference, I’m between 2 suppliers now, these are the once recommended above, rebuilt with 2yr warranty
https://airdominance.co.uk/shop/mer...ight-airmatic-air-suspension-shock-strut-new/

These are built/made new with 2yr warranty also
https://aerosus.co.uk/mercedes/s-class/w221/mercedes-s-class-w221-front-air-strut-left-or-right.html

Just don’t know what’s best bet?

One is new and you just fit and forget. The other is rebuilt and you have to send your old units back.
They both have the same warranty.
For me its a no brainer especially as Arnotts may buy your old cores.

Where would you send cores to ArnottS in UK ?
AirDominence send a pre paid label , no problem sending them back.

But wouldn't you get something back from MB for your old unit? I'm sure that would've been the case when they made a complete pig's ear of my front strut[/QUOTE

Merc dealer give £107+vat back, I just wondered if the new would be better option than rebuilt originals?

I had new Arnott bags fitted to the air struts at the back of my car ..... in effect, rebuilt originals. So far ..... so good :)

If the price is similar I'd choose Arnott struts over other brands.

Looks like Aerosus are half the price almost....
Plus Arnott could buy the core too so a win win...

I think the minimum Arnott pay is €50 so makes them quite a bit cheaper.

EF579AF1-5163-4BB2-9AD6-7E1F5E5AEF3D.jpeg Arnotts will pay €50 for my unit, so looks like it’ll be the new aerosus shock. Thanks guys..

Now, problem 2... the suspected steering angle sensor... i can buy second hand on eBay £79, or do I just shell out the £330 hoping that it’s the fault, or is it possible that it’s something else throwing up code above?
