Sorry, my sick, sarcastic, sense of humour. Anything that limits speed imho is, BAD! And that's in the old fashioned sense, not the new modern, Bad is good rubbish.
The only time I ever use it is going through an section with average speed cameras or if a police car is following me. Stops the speed drifting up!

Love your car - exactly the same colour as mine and I have had it since new in 2010. Now done 64k miles and as good as new. Have much fun with yours.

Circa 2,000 miles per annum is about as good as it gets. :):)

And I thought my 2,500 pa was low ;)

From flowrider99 :- I only did 1300 miles in my SL last year.

My mileage will increase dramatically though guys, the figures quoted were for the week since purchase, lol. :D
The car is going to be my daily so, I expect around 300 miles a week once the novelty wears off.

Finally heard from DVLA...
I can drive from today!!:D
I’m off out in a mo, been eight weeks since I mashed the Merc... still a drive in the Froggy van will be a pleasure after that sentence and I can test drive now:p

Been there my friend, I had to have a six months enforced holiday from driving after blacking out at the wheel two years ago. It was absolute torture :(
The annoying thing was they never found out why, I had every test under the sun and passed them all with flying colours.
There was only the consultants speculation that I'd had an adverse reaction to my tablets (heart condition) due to feeling very unwell with the flu.
Fortunately it was a total one off, now, if I'm feeling unwell, I just don't drive. I just couldn't do that again, sheer hell.
It's a delight to be mobile again.
I empathise with how you feel.
Enjoy!:p

Cleaned the E Class today as it's going down to Zunsport in Cannock to have some front grills designed for it tomorrow.

The whole front is very open and, given the amount of cooling systems hidden away, it needs some protection. So I, or rather the car, is basically being a guinea pig again...

I saw a Maserati quatroporte yesterday that had the large opening grill all caved in and I thought that the owner may want to add something more substantial protection to it

Yes it is a big problem on the 213, lots of reports of punctured IC rads!

Wimp. I had the roof down on the 230 when I went to the post office. Then had the roof off the Smart when I popped up to ECP for a new oil filter for it (400 miles past service). Changed the oil and filter when I got back.

Bit the bullet and bought a new front speaker grille ( plastic job ).
It was the one thing I missed when I bought her. On close inspection it had obviously been repaired, but a reasonable job. The plastic weld gave way and looked scrubby.

£156 plus VAT, thankfully discounted by my dealer to £134 plus vat .. still a ridiculous price for a wedge of perforated plastic!

But I forget it has a Harmon Kardon label on it ;)

... and that seriously impressess me NOT :(

Similar original story Jimbo, mine developed into cardiac arrest and an implant being fitted (pacemaker+defibrillator) as a precautionary measure in the absence of any damage/cause being evident it was a toss up with DVLA- 1 month or 6 depending on whether the device was a treatment or a precautionary treatment!
Luckily the consultant made the appropriate comment on his questionnaire!
Good to have that ‘take for granted’ freedom back!!!

Welcome to the crap club
The season is now surely underway. Had to wash the front wall of the house yesterday afternoon, the brickwork in painted pale Lemon, only to turn around and find a pile of crap on the roof of the car !!

As an update to my cardiac saga...
Met the off duty met mounted police woman that gave me CPR at the scene of the E350 demise...
A very modest young lady, young family and only assigned A few months ago. She didn’t see the car crash into the recreation ground by the main road and she stopped because the car was running and clearly damaged! I was unconscious but breathing albeit gasping for air whilst with me I stopped breathing and she dragged me out onto the wet snowy ground and initiated CPR, after 20 mins an off duty fireman took over the massage whilst she continued giving breathing support, the ambulance arrived some 5 mins later.
My partner and kids, on arrival at hospital were warned that with a ‘down time’ of this duration (20-25mins) permanent damage is a risk.

Anyway, I’ll not be looking at Beemers or Audi’s so no damage here!
I’m being offered work again, so I’m looking at a replacement pride and joy soon..

Thanks for all the messages of support, it’s been an experience made easier with the banter and sincerity this site gives....

As good a result as could be hoped for Frosty, well batted.

And a stirling effort by the two first responders - 20 mins of solo CPR is no mean feat!

Yep , second that , excellent work by the 2 trained helpers , at least they kept the oxygen moving around your brain to limit damage , (you may find you need to drop your crossword quality though :D) . Glad all is going well .
