High Mileage CLA45, any potential hiccups to be wary of?

Thinking of upgrading and buying a CLA45. This particular one has a fairly high mileage (70k), and I was wondering if I should be wary before buying.

Generally, you have to replace tyres every year, deal with mot and servicing ever year... that’s the usual.

But at such high mileage, anything else? potential gear box replacement required? anything? also what would the cost be for such replacements? (approximately)

70k might be high for the age but not for an engine these days if it has been serviced regularly. If you are worried about it going pop, get a warranty.

the gearbox is the week point on the A45 models pal

Get everything hot on the test drive, then shift from drive to reverse reasonably swiftly and listen for grinding as it goes into reverse. Go from drive to reverse and back to drive a few times to be sure. Obviously if you hear grinding noises walk away.

my mate hates the fact he has to let the gearbox warm up before he go drive his any harder than your gran would

If these cars are looked after and serviced correctly can they go on and on even if driven hard?

That counts for any car really, as mentioned though it’s things like getting the fluids up to temps before nailing the throttle regularly which could create future issues. So preventative maintenance rather than maintenance. But you can’t measure that sadly
