I reckon someone has given it a dose of Dr Tranny's shudder fix....
On a slightly different slant ( but transmission related !!! ) Are all of the ATF's on sale which meet MB 236.14 specs, backwards compatible with the 722.6 transmission? ( the ones which had red coloured fluid in them ? )
And does anyone know what the MB Nr. for ATF mean's? As in MB ATF Part Nr:- A000 989 08 04
Regards. Jim2
Thanks Alexander. Lucky thing I asked the question, because I had read that the 236.14 was backwards compatible for the 722.6 box, and so assumed that it would be Ok to top-up my trans with it but they forgot to mention that it could not be mixed with older 236.10 Red fluid...So it's true that it is compatible with the 722.6 transmission.....but only when it's used for a complete flush and change.Yes you can put the 7g blue fluid in them, but you must flush everything of the old fluid (TC, coolers, pipes etc)

Are you sure that 236.15 (the blue ATF for 7g plus gearboxes) is backwards compatible and can be used in 722.6 gearboxes?
OK, thanks.I have done it in the past, and have had advice recently from a very experienced MB tuning shop that says to use the newer fluid when rebuilding the boxes as it allows the gearbox to hold more torque without wearing the clutch packs.
The moral of the story is, use the 236.14 /15 backwards compatible, but only as a complete change...otherwise, the Red and the Blue are NOT to be mixed. But as I asked in an earlier post, is it OK to mix different manufacturers ATF ( Different brand names) same colour, and meeting MB specs 236.10? Has anyone done this in the past ( without it causing problems later on ) ?I have done it in the past, and have had advice recently from a very experienced MB tuning shop that says to use the newer fluid when rebuilding the boxes as it allows the gearbox to hold more torque without wearing the clutch packs.

Hi Alexanderfoti, I cannot find Febi Bilstein 30018 easily locally, but I can get some Febi Bilstein 30017.I would do it. I always use febi branded ATF but you never know what's in it, I would mix them without issue
