Major component change means another, very bespoke remap (and noticeable by insurers....)

PS one insurer (at least) is employing data mining to locate comments from the web about people modifying their cars.
Will start a separate thread ..

Not being funny ... but the way round that is to bite the bullet, be up front, tell your insurer what you've done, and just accept that the extra premium is part of your tuning budget.

Avoids all sorts of future potential complications ... and you sleep easy.

Or don't do it!

It's almost invariably cheaper to buy the bigger engines version of the same car than spend a fortune modifying one with parts that don't integrate well and invariably compromise reliability and end up becoming a parts sourcing nightmare for someone further down the line.
On the other hand once you've arrived at the biggest engined one you have little choice!

Thanks, but I didn't ask about insurance or buying a bigger engined car! I am happy with the one I have, it's hard to buy a W203 wagon as it is with low miles, and I like the c class, so the only option is tuning the one I have.
And I have spent enough on it already on servicing gearbox etc

OP, fair enough and I remapped our 1.5dci QQ given that upgrading the car would have cost me a few thousand and not the few hundred the remap did. I got a decent car at a decent price and like you couldn't find another (bigger engined one) at similar price.

I did tell my insurers
I cannot recall if I told the other lot about the Saab...... I must have.....

The 1.5 K9K engine is by far the best one offered on the QQ.

That's what I am told though I am surprised it isn't the 1.6

The remap should have taken it from 108bhp with a real slug of lag to 128bhp plus with much reduced lag.

Map was then rewritten (post dieselgate fix) specific to my car, which was nice....

Back on thread though, bigger turbo is a big proposition.
Are the ancillary internals of the 270 upto the increase in boost, pressure and torque?

I think he's already decided to do it.
His money, his risk.

The 270 cdi engine is well up to the task, as is the gearbox (560nm torque limit)
I was more interested in intercooler options than anything else, the turbo and map sensor have already been sourced, not wanting to go silly power (250) I would be happy with, seen 270 cdi cars with 300bhp+, but that requires major fabrication for turbo, plus bigger injectors/pump.
I think £500 or so would get me 250bhp, now I have the turbo/Map sensor.

One inherent weakness with this otherwise excellent engine is the anchoring arrangement for the injectors.
Leakage (stupidly called 'black death') and stripped threads with their close proximity to waterways, can become a real headache on this obsolete motor.
More power ... more potential problems in this area.

Still, you pays your money ...

A decent remap of the original setup will produce over 500nm torque, not far short of the 560 max on tranny. With that level of torque, I doubt you would want more. Seems a silly extra expense with lots of probable pitfalls along the way.

486 after a stage one remap, de cat and air box with a map tweak takes it to 498, intercooler before you touch the turbo will see 510-15 I suspect

Thanks Matty,
What do you mean remove airbox?
Any recommendations for an intercooler? I wonder if the R320 CDI one fits, it looks a lot bigger and inlet/outlet do look similar

The one from a 211 320 will fit with a little fetelling of the brackets but there is enough room. Re the air box, I'm talking about the intake, the cilinder one is a little restrictive, there are options to have something bigger and tumble the air better inside the box

Anymore info on the airbox, is the w211 much bigger, and worth the effort? I can't see the difference in size?
