Is it worth buying rubber cleaner for this, or will a damp rag be ok?
Thanks, I'll get some, was looking at a few products, just didn't know how well they worked.Damp rag will clean them, but spend a tenner on Amazon and buy some Gummi Pfledge. It will prevent drying out and cracking.
Excellent, I've ordered it alreadyGummi Pfledge works great. I use it on all my rubber seals on the SL twice a year.
For car tyres I use Carplan Tyre Slik from Halfords. It's cheap and an application last a very long time, I highly recommend it.LostKiwi i am like you, and from day one of oewnership i have used sillicon spray on all the rubber on the car even my tyres. And the door seals are like new.
Thanks anyway, I did order from Amazon, should be delivered soonIf it's Gummipflege you're after, search eBay and look for the 2 tube listing from Micks Garage in Ireland, by far the cheapest way to buy! I use it 3 or 4 times a year on all the seals on both cars, works well.

I thought vaseline was bad on rubber. I'm sure i read that it degrades the rubber.I use Vaseline on my door, window and sunroof seals. Cleans and keeps them supple. Readily available too !!
If you can find a Wurth shop they sell a very good silicone spray and silicone grease.I've always used silicon grease from Maplin on the 129. Need to find another source now.
Well that's not been my experience to date, it's supposed to keep them supple, but you've got me curious now so I checked on Google. Apparently Vaseline comes from petro-chem industry but is very mild, hence a skin product. Also door seals are made of a neoprene, rather pure rubber product.I thought vaseline was bad on rubber seals. I'm sure i read that it degrades the rubber.
