So am I John - and I promised my wife the 212 would be my last big Merc but now I’m not so sure. The 213 has really raised the bar, my son’s has a full digital dashboard and the interior is descended from the S class and looks superb, the biggest revelations for me however are that the 220 diesel with 9 speed box is willing to push on with seamless changes and never seems to be in the wrong gear and although I warned him that 20in wheels would be too harsh on our roads the suspension just soaks it up (it’s fitted with Goodyear assymetrics run flats as well) so well done MB engineering and Goodyear.

As an aside the Goodyear run flats are much much better than the Bridgestone Potenza run flats on my BMW 4 series in every respect so I know now what they will be replaced with next
