hi, my current wheels/tires don't have TPMS and i wish they did, i did a quick google and found these for my W213,

edit: my car is TPMS ready and I have TPMS sensors on my Winter wheels, my summer wheels do not have the sensors yet but i want to add them.

I found this...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-TPMS-R...273144?hash=item467799b678:g:G9YAAOSwkkNalsbH

but... it states

"note to configuration
The sensors have been programmed for the vehicles mentioned above, but will need to be configured by a mechanic."

is this true ? do I have to go to Mercedes to get them 'registered' once installed ? or can I configure it myself somehow ?

cheers
niall

You need the whole system not just the sensors.
There are third party complete kits available for much less than that - @GLK did this on his A class.

when you say i need the whole system what do you mean ? my car is TPMS ready, i get the warnings on my dash that it can't detect the TPMS on my wheels (my winter wheels have TPMS on them)

.
Then you'd need a set of compatible TPMS sensors, which can be read by the car.

In my case, I bought a set of sensors, which work with an app.

you can get a box which emits the required signal to bypass the sensor alert and stop the alerts. Ive put them in a few cars customers have fitted aftermarket wheels onto their cars. A much much cheaper option.

ok interesting, but after my recent puncture (and having no idea i had a puncture in the car) i like the idea of having a working TPMS solution for my summer wheels

You may need to "excite" the new sensors before they will be read by your car. This is done with a small handheld device. Most tyre shops have one, as they regularly damage sensors when changing a tyre. The valve core needs removing to break the bead, and for some reason the cores often corrode in the tpms device. Most tyre places stock replacement sensors - there are only a handful of different types - so they have the machine to excite them usually.

I bought a Michelin TPMS kit for my wife's car. Works very well and solar powered so no batteries or cables etc.
It was around £100 to buy.
