I currently have a 13-plate S-Class (long wheel base). Today, while at the local dealer they had a 2015 S-Class (non the long wheel base version, which I prefer). I currently pay £270 a month for my car...to upgrade, I have a little equity and then my monthly payments will nearly double.

In my mind, I'm thinking: newer car, less problems, possibly cheaper to run...but at the same time, it's a lot more monthly. I also much prefer the non-long wheel base version.

Should I spend more and upgrade now or just stick with what I have got?!?

I would say that until you have stronger arguments for changing, keeping your current (very nice ) ride is the way to go - after all, it's not that old is it ?

Bigger payments for a smaller car, bonkers surely. Put aside the extra money the upgrade would cost you for a year and if your 2013 doesn't need any maintenance beyond routine servicing, you'll have a fab car and a big pile of money. You'll be upgrading yourself instead of the car.

I have an 11 plate E350 & absolutely no intention of selling it. I like the S class, but I can't possibly justify the to change cost.

No brainer for me, keep your current car and put some cash aside each month to cover servicing and any repair costs. Biggest cost of car ownership is depreciation imho.

Defo, keep the present S class, how about a few mods, nice new set of alloys spring to mind, gotta be 20" at least :D
and possibly wheel spacers 10mm probably. Should look mean :)
Will look like a different car !
( And you can take the alloys off when you do eventually sell the car )

does it not depend on the spec of the new one?

a short (normal sized one) will be much more fun to drive.... might actually go round corners and will fit in parking spaces
if it has a higher toy count like disctronic plus and magic carpet ride then take it for a spin and see what you think
no doubt it will kill less children as you drive from the filth out the tail pipe

however double check he's not stitching you up on road tax 4k a year ???

that said 270 a month is incredible.... you pay that for a focus 1.0

Can you afford the newer one ?

Do you want the newer one ?

If the answer to both of the above is yes then why not.

Once the seed of "car replacement" has been planted is is only going to grow.

If you are a car person then there is nothing worse than owning something you are not content with.

Just my 2p worth
