One of the last Adaptive Brake Light units I built, is on its way to be fitted into this beauty:

Is it weird, I feel a little bit like a proud dad, ha ha

Anyway - a fitting finale! :)

Lovely car but can it brake hard enough to set it off?

Is it a 1960 model?

Thought it was a 59 at first but struggling to identify certain bits on it.

Yes, it's a 1960 Chrysler.
The gadgets collection inside is incredible, including cruise control, swivel seats and 45rpm 14-records changer!
I never knew such thing even existed.

And 375bhp with 495lb/ft which, certainly for 1960, was pretty impressive.

Always loved the 300 letter series, very innovative with what they achieved as well in terms of engineering.

From what I know, more than likely! ;)

Disc brake upgrade?

Original is nice but I guess when it comes to safety it's worth doing, especially if the drums can be fitted back on to get it fully original.

Drums can provide better braking than discs due to a far higher surface area between friction material and braking surfaces but they can't sustain high braking forces or repetitive braking due to inability to dissipate the heat.
In testing drum brakes Land Rover FC101s could lift their rear wheels off the ground in hard braking tests, but could only do it a couple of times before overheating.

Good point but it's a combination of surface contact area and amount of pressure per cm (inch or whatever).
Drum brakes don't have the feel either, awful things in my opinion, did any drum brakes ever have any sort of ABS?
Drum brakes I've had were snatchy and horrible, nowhere near as good as discs even if they could lock a wheel.
In fact I remember having to push the brake enough to bend the floor pan before it had any chance of locking up. At higher speeds mine were a long way from getting to brake hard enough for a tyre to slip on a dry road.
Even when I had a '79 Oldsmobile with disc brakes it took a week to stop because the car was the weight of a bus.

Once you chaps left the "it looks fab" territory, you've lost me :p

No idea of the type of brakes on the car, but the owner is, apparently, known for a "lead right foot", so I'm sure there's occasional "rapid deceleration" to be reckoned with ...

I knew I'd seen a pic somewhere...

Don't be misled by the apparent lack of anything In the rear. The engine is behind the front axle and behind that is a cast iron cased gearbox and transfer box and about 250kg of back axle!

As I said to my other half when I bought one... It's a mid engined V8 4WD convertible...:)

Looks like both front wheels are locked up there so good bite from the brakes but do they have good feel too?

I never had any complaints.

My MOT tester did though when he tested them with a decelerometer... It tore two strips out of his asphalt!
