W210 E320 CDI 2001
Hi guys, just joined today and I'm looking for advice please. I have a 2001 W210 E320 CDI 101000 miles. It has run great until the last month as it has started cutting out while driving. Mostly when slowing down, power steering goes then it dies. It starts back up straight away with no engine codes and drives great for a while. I'm not bad with my hands so i will have a go myself at fixing if anyone can advice. Thanks in advance.

Why not take it to a garage and ask that they plug it into a STAR diagnostics reader?

Hi, I thought with there being no codes to read that the garage would be clueless too? I take it the STAR tool is far superior to the one I borrowed? Cheers

I am new to this but, the STAR reader will be able to pick up all of the error codes as it was designed for this purpose. Some generic readers cannot pick up all of the MB errors. If you have a problem then an error code must be generated.

Hi and welcome.

There are some good Independent Mercedes Benz garages /specialists on here. A quick search should find you one, hopefully not too away.

I Enjoy my E class estate too : )

Usually worn injector nozzles causing the fuel to dump into the cylinders too quickly. This drops the fuel pressure below 150bar which is the threshold for running. Spec running value is 280-300bar.

Start with a star test, read the fault codes and look at the quantity correction would be the place to start.

I wouldn't guess at replacing sensors, that will cost you more money than diagnosing it properly in the long run.

Thank you, it's not good news! No2 injector is knackered and the high pressure fuel pump is leaking. Nearly £1000 in parts and labour. Absolutely gutted.
