Hi,

Does anyone know how to enable the self parking function on a new C Class. For some reason the girls in the cafe next door seemed to think I would know (although my car doesan't have this feature)

Regards

Steve

Used to set it up on the central screen in My E or the Mercedes Me app IIRC
Button on the transmission tunnel for parking cameras etc then it would come on the screen

Pull up alongside a parking space; the car asks if you want it to park for you, you lazy c*** (not calling you a lazy c*** dry run!), you press OK on the steering wheel and hey presto!

Easy, you RTFM :)

You should know by now that one only ever refers to instructions as the very, very last resort :)

It's not my car so I don't have access to TFM. If we all RTFM this forum might cease to exist :)

I'm sure it does Craig, but is that function active all the time, or do you have to activate it? Youtube has lots of videos showing this feature, but cant find one that shows you how to enable it :(

On my W212 it was permanently active.

It is on all the time on our A class.
You need to approach the parking space at a steady speed and line for it to work. If you manoeuvre too much on approach, it seems to not work.
Once slowed down and indicating it will ask if you want to park and how, parallel or parking space (car park style) select which one and press ok. There you are, just mind your alloys on the way in : (.

It will only offer to park it for you after you put it in reverse (which you do once the little white arrow appears next to the blue 'P').

Thanks for all the replies guys:)

I have just shown the girls in the cafe how to use this function (it was active all the time). It's clever, but don't think it would be used much if I had it.

Just wish you could all share the free bacon sandwich that I'm currently enjoying :)

On all the time as you’ve found- just a reminder you need to be indicating as you drive slowly past the space and when engaging reverse or it won’t work!

Got It! :)

Interestingly, my car seems to have an earlier version of this. If you do as above, it won't self steer, but does give you visual steering/gear instructions. Who Knew?

Yes, IIRC it’s ‘park assist’ you have and the other one is ‘active park assist’ - very few people do notice it in fact, but just seem to notice a blue ‘p’ appearing on the dash periodically

Yes John, I thought the blue P and then the white arrow was the whole system, didn't realise there was more to it.

Every day's a school day :)

Don't let them insult you just because you want to try it.
I think it's enormous fun to creep backwards into a space hands off.
Beware however: It can get into a space that can be a problem to get out from.

I tried "Park Assist" once it wasn't great, but luckily I can park a car still.
