Well chaps and chapesses, I've now fitted my winter alloys and tyres and can't quite make up my mind about the black alloys, what do we think/prefer?
Comments invited, decent ones please, lol. :D

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- ford kuga 65 plate awd powershift .
ive just fitted graphite alloys to my cls, with winters on, but i do like the car better with silver wheels . tbh .

black reminds me of steelies needing wheel trims fitted.

I prefer the silver. Black look OK when they have the polished lip like the C63 multispokes, but those above don't do it for me.

Whatever our opinions, don't be swayed by them Jim. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..............it's said;)

I prefer silver myself but, typically when I was looking to buy I couldn't find a silver set for love nor money.
You're right about the black with the polished lip, they do look smart and I actually quite like that style but, they were like rocking horse poo to find as well.
I spotted the black ones which were less than a year old, according to the vendor (backed up by the condition) and they had good tyres on them.
The price was right and I wasn't having any joy with the silver so, I just thought, "Fook it, they're not that bad looking for black just do it!"
And so it came to pass that as soon as I had parted with my hard earned, there were several suitable FOOKIN' SILVER sets suddenly available. Bar steward!!!!!
Story of my life. :(:(:mad:

Another option would be to have the black ones resprayed and lacquered professionally to a colour of your choice.

Sorry, Jim, black alloys just don't do it for me at all.
Looks like somebody's half inched ya hubcaps.

As said I prefer black with a silver lip, you could freshen up the paint on the callipers which would help the look

silver rims every time for me .... black alloys look like steel rims that are missing their trims .... IMHO ;);)

It is an option I have given serious consideration to as I like the style of the black alloys, I think they would look stunning powder coated in bright silver, or graphite grey but, I have spent so much on tyres, alloys and a full service recently that the coffers are empty at the moment.
If Swmbo knew just how much I'd spent, I think (know) she'd seriously freak out. :D

I will have to save up and then get them done later, perhaps in time for next winter.

The other problem/issue that is requiring attention is that one of the silver front alloys set is buckled, fortunately it will balance out ok, however at autobahn speeds you can still feel it through the seat of your pants although it doesn't give any serious vibration through the steering wheel. Sounds contradictory I know but, the car isn't as smooth as it should be and that does irritate me enormously.
Spoils the effect somewhat. :(

This is also something I have thought about and as you say it would help the look. Considerably.

I'm a big fan of bright silver wheels (don't get the fashion for black), but my latest purchase has diamond cut alloys that are silver spokes with a darker gun metal rim and I'm quite liking that (until I kerb one). If I change the wheels in the future, I'll go silver - I think you should too, :)

Think you’re on spot with your latest comment Jim - I’m not a fan of the black either but they’ll get you through the winter after which you can get them powder coated a lighter colour- quite logical

To be honest I can't understand this "winter" wheels business, I've always had just the one set of wheels on all my cars with no problems at all, a good dose of wax and regular washing, job done.

I'd just enjoy the change. Having winter wheels at all is a luxury. The car is a looker, with either set of wheels. These also give you the opportunity to correct the issue with your summer wheels without taking the car off the road. Win Win.
