Removed the aerial off the rear wing of the 230. Definitely a replace job. Panel is also damaged slightly but hopefully can gently knock it straight again.

Jeez, I thought I had attention to detail

Gave the W211 a first proper wash today.

Paint is properly rough, and is in dire need of a chemical decon & claying. Going to be a busy spring / summer, as the CLK paint needs correction.

Hope Mrs B doesn't want much doing in the house, this year. I'm going to be busy.

Well I Never?

Cleaned up engine bay then spent nearly an hour scratching my head wondering why my wipers would not work, sus wiring clipped to washer jet tube just above battery pollen filter housing where it clips to the bonnet (taping undone?) but could not see a break... then found out after checking fuse intact etc that wipers dont work while the bonnet is up? As soon as dropped the bonnet wipers A-ok

Well BLOW ME? I never knew that...?

Time fly's,,,it's already one year ago almost to the day, 12th Jan 2018 since I bought my 1st Mercedes Benz, a W212 E Class, 200 CDI. And now, 11'000 Klm's later, and it's time for it's 2nd oil / filter change. ( 1st was shortly after I bought it) which I have done over the weekend, and reset the service interval...one of the easiest jobs I have ever done. ( resetting the service interval, that is....:D ) So now good for the next 365 days...
Impression after 1 year and 11'000 Klms ??? Lovely car.. always a pleasure to drive it. It still surprises me at times with what it can do, and also the electronics..phone and entertainment etc. The one fly in the ointment has been the Artico imitation leather seat covering...the Driver's seat cushion has split badly and the fabric is starting to peel away from the side supports on the seat :(. It's a big disappointment, given the overall attention to detail you expect from Mercedes Benz.
But overall, the niggles are far outweighed by the positives, and I'm looking forward to driving it in 2019.:)

It is indeed Wighty, right on all count's.
Also:-
Fitted 4 new tyre's and had the 4 wheel alignment done (it was drifting slightly to the left passenger side rear wheel was out a bit)
Changed the rear axle oil,
Two new brake discs on the front, new brake pads all round.
Engine air filter,
Serpentine belt,
Changed anti-freeze,
Greased front wheel bearings.
Barclayed and valeted.
Fitted a tow-bar.(No one, especially in my Family, want's to have "an ugly towbar" fitted on their cars....but everyone needs a trailer...)
And of course, changed the ATF. The flush and complete ATF change went off fine, would not have any hesitation in doing it again. Same cannot be said for changing the electrical socket on the trans...I managed to bend one of the pins in the conductor plate.. result? One new conductor plate, done by local Indy. ( I was not about to chance bending any more connector pins..
But Trans is now silky-smooth, and I have 37'000 miles before it's due again.
Fitted new transmission mounting ( there was a very slight, but noticeable vibration some times when driving it, now that's gone)
Drove it 11'000 very enjoyable Klms.
TO DO :-
Change cabin filter ( also windscreen on passenger side takes longer to demist or to clear ice.. so that's one problem to solve )
Change brake fluid.
Very tiny coolant leak, still to confirm where exactly it's leaking from.
Change thermostat ( and possibly water pump too! ) Once it hits the 90c, it stays there, but nowadays can take awhile to get to the 90,....could of course be related to the drop in temperature as it's winter.
Solve the Artico seat problem.
Drive it at least another 11'000 Klm's this year.
As you mentioned, seem's just like 6 mth's since I bought it......but I will let you in on a little private secret of mine,,,effectively, there is now only 6 mth's in every twelve. I know it count's as 12,,, but the reality is it has been condensed into 6...( Alien's I think, or the Government or maybe both ????? )...I would appreciate it if you kept this info to yourself. as there are lots of very strange people out there...especially the one's wearing white coats...;)
Regards Jim.:):):)

Good grief Jim, the list seems endless. Over the last 12 months apart from service and MOT I have had to do nothing to mine. Like you though I have an issue with the Artico on the drivers seat base that will need sorting this year :(

Sailed through m o t this morning, so thats ,that till 20 February 2020. Even got a comment in the centre that the car was in excellent condition underneath and he felt it had be very well matained one of the cleanest he had seen. Happy days.
Not sure whether to keep or sell now as a few members say they are better cars driving than sitting about all winter in a garage.
Decisions.

It sure seems like a lot AJD, when you look at the list, but it has taken the full year literally do everything listed...so if you average it out, it's not really a lot..it could all have been done easily in one dedicated week...the biggest problem was the electronic plate in the transmission. The problem was, it had been a two owner car, and when I bought it, there was a very good service history ( inc. Timing Chain tensioners etc. ) from owner Nr 1, but less so for owner Nr 2. So I had a lot of catching up to do.....and that's where the list came in. Hopefully, I won't have much to do service or problem-wise in 2019. Let me know how you get on with your Artico problem...if I could get my hands on the fabric, easy enough to remove the seat, and strip the covering off..plenty of upholsterers where I live.
Regards, Jim.

Used to have a C63...
Not done to it yet, as still awaiting the arrival of my winter wobblers, but...

Nylon sleeved wheel nut sockets, torque wrench and copper grease have arrived, joining my low profile trolley jack Christmas present, ready to fit the above when they do arrive!
