E350 CGI Spark Plug removal tool??

Dear All,

After researching (watching youtube clips etc) on how to change the 6 plugs on V6 my W212 09 I decided this was a relatively simple job. However after removing the coil packs (just two T25s bolts) I didn't see a simple job ahead as the plug connectors and the actual plug are lower down and slightly angled to those I observed on youtube etc.

So it looks like a need a tool or device to firstly prise off the spark plug connector from the plug. I didn't want to pull at the connector and risk ripping/splitting the connector from the coil pack. I contacted Mercedes service to ask what they use, there answer was "yes we do use a tool" "But we don't get many in so we haven't used the tool for a long time"

So my question is a) Is there a tool for this job as I can't believe people just pull at the connector lead to remove it from the plug. Especially for the plugs at the back of the engine.

Hello and welcome, please look in the engine DIY section where I have put up the pictures of all the tools.

At that time I did manage to change them all with only one hand.

Thank you but I cannot seem to find the lost. My engine is the cgi and frustrated to not find a simple how to video or instructions as the plugs look fairly impossible to remove since there is no room and are lower down. Any help greatly appreciated.

The CGI is a lot different from the 272 engine above. The plugs are in a deeper recess and a special spark plug tool is required. Most tool shops sell them though. From memory its a deep 12 sided 14mm socket.

Bentley hasn't been on the forum since 2017 buddy , but don't worry you don't need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs

I don't , but somewhere like Eurocarparts,Halfords should sell it ?
