Maybe the XK forum has fewer naysayers. H7PTW bought cheap, by his own admission. That policy has potential to unravel on any luxury car. I like the XK too, but I'm pretty sure maintenance comes at a price.
Let me know if you're in the area - drop by for a coffee (if we can ever get back there!)Thanks. You might catch a glimpse of it cruising around Charante-Maritime at some time in the not to distant future, lovely part of the world.

The old friends in the trade I mentioned in earlier thread, I caught up with and were very helpful. One of which is a jag enthusiast, and is a past chair of the local jag enthusiast club so maintenance or problems in the future which crop up I know will be done at a reasonable and experienced independent specialist recommend by him. Who knows, I'm tempted to buy the cheapest 500 out there as well, just to see how it fairs! Thanks for all your input on this thread.Maybe the XK forum has fewer naysayers. Lovely looking jag buddy , they are on my “to do” list as well at some point , same as the SL’s . Saw a nice black Xk when we down near the Dordogne last year .The old friends in the trade I mentioned in earlier thread, I caught up with and were very helpful. The wife loves Maserati, everytime we pass one she asks what was that? Think that'll be a one for the future. Don't know why Audi never went down the A7 or A8 GT route. Their first attempt at a 911 competitor wasn't too bad, but I'm biased, drove them for years.I've been looking online at the 5.0 supercharged XK's. Lovely cars but, for me, not as lovely as an SL. I might still buy one at some point though as I do have a hankering for a change I just dont know what too.
Another that was on my list! I rather fancied either a 4200 coupe or a Granturismo and looked very closely but the maintenance costs make the SL look cheap! The wife loves Maserati, everytime we pass one she asks what was that?
