Well i finally got round to checking the suspension on my 06 plate S211.
One side rear went up and down and both front were on the bump stops.
Well both front springs were snapped and rear bag has a leak. Nice feeling to know what it is ( fingers crossed). Dog checking i'm doing it ok

Please be careful jacking like that… the jack doesn’t lift straight up and so on a smooth surface it will roll forwards to keep itself under the car. It can slip out and damage the sill and the car can fall off the jack.

Thanks for the input, driveway is gravel and rear wheel was chocked up. This was purely for inspection to make sure i get the right parts. It will be on axle stands when i do the job, providing i can get down to do it , no fun getting old

I've read countless posts regarding the compressor but none are relevant to my car. I don't have the single relay hanging over the back i have two relays at the back, one on left has a painted stripe on it and other is a larger black. Can't even get the blimmin things out cos i've got hands like a pound of pork sausages. driving me nuts

Ok, replaced the relay and woo hoo , it ran the pump but only for 10 seconds then nothing. Suspension is still right down, is there a way to manually inflate it to help the pump after i have isolated the battery for 10mins.
Thanks in anticipation

Just because the pumps running unfortunately doesn't mean it's putting out the correct pressure. Changed one for a friend a while back as the hose between the air filter and pump had split and sucked in dirt over time and ruined the compressor.
On the outlet you shouldn't be able to block the air off as a rule of thumb (don't use your thumb obviously) if you have no way of measuring it.

Before i started changing things the pump was working fine and inflating suspension, now it worked for a short time then stopped. Checked fuses so what next, Star diags ?

Try putting 12V direct to the pump and see if it lifts the suspension. If it does have a look at the level sensor on the rear anti roll bar, if it doesn't you have a leak or a weak compressor.

An airline won't give you enough pressure, I think the compressor should give about 16 bar, over 200psi.

The big issue i have i when i changed the relay the pump started then went off. Checked fuses all ok now it doesnt work. If it did i could check the lift plus leaks.
Cheers

Run a 12V supply direct to the pump the rear sensor may be telling the ecu it's at the correct height and shutting off. I had something similar happen, if you have an iCarsoft plug it in and it will give live data as to what the sensor is reading as ride height.
If the pump runs and the suspension doesn't lift then you have a leak or the pump isn't putting out sufficient pressure and if it doesn't run then its faulty.

Sounds good mate, is there anywhere i can put the pump feed to test it without taking the pump out. Horrible job tight access without a spare plug to wire in.
Thanks

From what I remember you could use a couple of insulated crocodile clips wired direct to the battery as the tail on the compressor when disconnected has pins in it? If not try multi meter probes.

Ok i have put live direct to the pump and it runs but seems very weak so looks like a change or service. If someone has the coil spring conversion for sale i'd be interested.
TIA
