Hi,

Please find some images enclosed below. Do you think it's worth going back to the local dealer? My car is a Dec 2014 with 75000 miles. This seat's "leather" started giving about a year ago and looks tatty now. I just want pointing in the right direction locally to get it sorted :'(

Always worth trying. I just feel MB are no longer bothered about quality, or owners expectations. Look at the Fire Opal red cases

I agree to a certain extent, but MB are fixing the micro blisters now. Full repaints (Except plastic panels) are the norm .

With the way the world appears to be going it seems utter madness to me to make things that are more disposable. The constant replacement to keep shareholders and accountants happy is depleting resources and adding immeasurably to worldwide emissions.

"Make do and mend"was a pamphlet issued in WWII, I know it's not a popular opinion with business but if we want to make any difference at all, it is what we should all be doing to the best of our ability. Instead of being vilified for the vehicles we drive, the heating systems we have and the white goods in our houses we should be encouraged to service and maintain them for as long as possible.

Government policy and businesses would have to change dramatically for the above to happen. I fear they'd rather litigate us out of whatever we have already to buy new which will wear out much sooner than what we had previously and therefore have to replace again.

ABsoloutely spot on thread. Sad state of the world we live in, ran by corps who need figures for shareholders. so they make shitter products and the consumer knows no better when told - its cheaper to buy a new one.

this is also a fault of society and the millenials who cant even wire a plug, never mind use a spanner or a multimeter etc

I always tell my son (he is six) Everthing can be fixed. First find the fault. second get the replacement part.

Rant over.

Unfortunately I feel we’ll be ranting over this issue for many years to come :(

Of course, electrical products never came with plugs on so we always had to fit our own. We were even allowed to do electrical work in our own homes in those days as well.

My local Currys/PCWorld doesn't sell plug fuses. Their reason was, they didn't want to encourage DIY!

I have ahuge box of spare plugs and Fuses in the garage, The "modern" plugs which are moulded fail at the join. A snip with wirecutters and a new plug, jobs a good un.

Absoloutel ridiculous the rationale from from Currys, whoever told you that obv can wire a plug!

As promised a couple of photos of my drivers seat on my 115 K mile E350 coupe.
As you can see they have lasted really well, I’ve not even cleaned them for some time.

Hi. Can you give me more information on these blisters? I have a 62 plate with lacquer blisters red paint. When I called my local mb dealership they said nothing can be done.

But they aren't fixing the micro blisters. They have told me because I don't ha dealership servicing and out of warranty nothing can be done.

Go back and point out that it's well documented that Mercedes have an issue with micro blisters on fire opal red paint and that if they really want to argue you're happy to take all the evidence to the ombudsman.

I am genuinely puzzled this PVC material has ever been allowed to be called leather because it isn't.

Hi,

Don't want to 'ghost in' on this thread but thought this might be of interest to you all.
I have a 3month old/3000m A class with the Artico seat trim. this is a photo of what it looked like last week, dealer wont accept that this is crap material but says I have punctured with sharp object (?) Seat appears to be covered in bin-bag grade plastic which simply peels off, Ive just had plastic surgery on my face which looks better than this !
I have owned a c43 Amg registered new 2017, today 5 years but only done 25,000 miles, my wife drives to shops and school run, the artico leather has peeled after 5,500, miles, on four occasions, meaning today I have a faulty seat base,
But this is Not leather but a black plastic coating on white textile,
The last time seat cover replaced (third time at only 19,000 miles from new) I had to pay half cost, but supplied with a 2 year warrentee, that was 14 months ago. See photo.

Now the lumber support is badly split and showing signs of material cracking after only 25,000 miles,
See photo.

I do not think this is normal wear, and my wife is only 85kg.

Simply looks as though a quality issue here,

Seats material “Not Fit For Purpose”

I guess many out there with same problem.

Hello and welcome,

Artico is very poor unfortunately :(
MB Tex back in the day wore forever (the taxis had it as standard) the regular leather lasts well and the nappa and designo leather are very good indeed
