Hiya,
Been looking at threads how to fix the heater blower motors. I just got a replacement, but some guy has cut the case in two, leaving the motor exposed. Anyone know where I can get the case, or what the part number is?

There's loads of different set ups on 124s depending on age, whether it has aircon or not and if the aircon was factory or fitted by dealers in the UK. https://www.catcar.info/mercedes/? shows the set up on my '93 320te, page 1 shows the non aircon version and if you click on "car, europe" it'll take you back to a page where you can select your model from the first 6 digits of the vin (should be 124.090 for yours?)

If someone has cut the blower case open i'm thinking yours maybe has aftermarket/dealer fitted aircon? Rob Parker did something similar here http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/i...with-after-market-aircon.129054/#post-1152817 but stuck the top back afterwards. With factory aircon/climate control the blower case is in two pieces (held together with spring clips) and designed to be accessed from the engine bay. The Diavia system fitted to some 124s involved removing the dashboard and it appears no thought was given to later access without ripping the entire dash out again or cutting the airbox open

Brilliant, thanks hotrodder. I saw Rob's thread, but I don't fancy the gaffer tape route(!).
I can I take it a previous owner did the same thing, but the cover came off as what I'm left with is Rob's picture of the exposed unit. Anyway, at least I know the parts number, thanks.

If your blower motor set up looks like Rob's then the MB part # won't be any use because it's an aftermarket/dealer fitted arrangement. This is what the factory set up looks like http://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...lacement/56-BODY-Blower_Motor_Replacement.htm but there's still various subtle differences depending on age and whether a Behr or Siemens system was fitted. For example the fan cages are slightly different on mine compared to the pelicanparts link and not interchangable. Mine is a Behr airbox and doesn't have a cabin filter either which is why there's so many different part numbers for the top of the case (parts 65 and 66 in the first catcar link)

Yes. I figured that out. Seems like a bodge fix is necessary to create some kind of cover to protect the fan from the elements - from the gap created by a previous owner.

Still wrestling with this. What a bastard to get out! Specially the screws at the bottom. I give up. Even an angle screw driver from screw fix and about an inch off the back of my hand couldn't do it. You can see the bushel has gone. But I'm not taking the dash board off to replace an aftermarket knackered fan. I'm going to use brute force and get it out that way. Got a replacement unit. Also now got an angle screwdriver.
