This is to be my next project .Question is which gasket should I use ?
I can see Payen and a few others .Anyone done this and used one on their M103 engine, that worked as it should . I can get order one from Mercedes on Monday . But I will need to wait for it to come in . Ebay would be faster, if I know a good gasket to use. Or know a better seller that would have one I can purchase .. Thank you for looking ,.

I was always taught not to put anything on the gasket but just makes sure the surface youre applying to is squeaky clean. Cole will have a view....

My dad (Marine engineer in RNZN) always said cork gasket soak in boiling water (and man do they stick to the metal surfaces if you do!), paper gaskets use hylomar or grease, rubber (silicone) gaskets grease if necessary to hold in place but otherwise nothing, headgaskets go dry and clean.

Must say this when i was at the dealers picking up the gasket i had a look at the new Mercedes models .They looked like space ships in the cock pit, With leather , with black stitching ,just out of my league .The price was £59,995 On my way out a rep followed me and said to me - is that you Nissan parked in the bay over there .I said yes .I was told, i must not park there on my next visit , Because he said, it was for customers to pick up their new Mercedes. I said sorry but my other car is a RollsRoyce , and knew i was unable to park that in your car park , so i popped in with my wifes Nissan Micra as it took less room...

There are fools, dolts, idiots and knaves. Below them there are politicians, bankers and journalists. Below them there are the white, writhing, coruscated, slimy things which live in the dark spaces below stones and small rocks and which feed off the dead, decaying and corrupted. Below these are the single cell organisms and general bottom feeders. On a whole strata below these are car salesmen. They are reduced to selling cars only because they have already sold their mothers, wives and children...especially their children. People traffickers reject them because they are too loathsome even for their vile trade. So the only work they can get is car sales.

Just my opinion!

Is it fair to say you aren't a used car salesman?

Actually, on reflection, I think I was a bit harsh on the the white, slimy, coruscated things.....I put them on a level below politicians. Sorry!
