"Got the email with some AMG promotions and one of them was:

"Update your sat-nav for just £99.

Want to get the best of your Mercedes-Benz navigation system? Update your maps with the very latest navigation data for all of Europe for just £99.

Book your update now at your local Mercedes-Benz retailer."

Here's the link to the form - https://forms.mercedes-benz.co.uk/navigationupdate

Don't see any T&C for this offer, model limitations, etc."

Still a rip off when it's just an update and you probably wont notice the update unless there are new main roads that you travel on where the sat nav currently thinks you've gone off road.

When it's built in they have the opportunity to charge silly prices and people think they're getting a bargain when they charge a lower silly price. You can buy a brand new stand alone sat nav with the latest maps for £99, there are probably some with lifetime map updates at that price.

Mercedes should do free lifetime updates as long as the car has continuous main dealer service history in my opinion.

I agree it's still a rip-off, I have a Tom Tom Go6000 bought 2 years ago for £200 that has free lifetime Europe wide map updates, and if you buy the latest 6100 you also get free lifetime speed camera updates instead of paying £20 for 12/18 months of updates.

However, having the built in comand controlled by the centre knob (especially now I've had the crappy plastic centre shaft replaced with an aluminium one!) is much easier and user friendly than the Go6000 on a Brodit dashboard mount in my 968 cab. Also as my car is NTG4 I can buy genuine MB but "second user" DVD's than sell them on once installed - with NTG4.5 on later 204's etc. you need a PIN from MB as well as the DVD's, so it's even more of a rip off. MB are not alone in this - Porsche apparently are even worse!

Most of the newer ones are different, the disk is £50 and the license is £150 so while you can re-use the disk you have to buy a new license every time

Hmm I wonder if this offer will convert a 2009 NTG3 system to full postcodes? Rather than 5 digit.
And include any required firmware updates?

That link just led to a registration form.
No reply came ?

sadly I expect not... car manufacturers don't do improvements - they want you to buy a new car instead
If u have traffic, bird's eye and date of arrival its on later firmware which you should have if its build was after 2008

I've also read on the original thread on t'other side that the £99 is for the DVD, if you need a PIN as well - that's extra, covered by a T&C * about licence requirements. For one guy £99 became £167 as he required a PIN! He decided to stick with his Iphone and Google Maps!!

Well that was a waste of time, got there and they said because of the age of the car it would cost £267. Thanked them for wasting my time and walked out....

they must be incompetent on many grounds

didn't check what the car was
rip off dealer cost is usually around £159

When booking I asked repeatedly if the cost would be £99, I gave them the Reg No. of the car, they knew what model it was..

It might take some time...
Yeah but 2 dealers around here didnt even know what I was talking about ... had to send them the link.
And then theynsaid Imhad to use it to sign up.

I got the feeling MB UK thought up this idea and the dealers dont really want to do it!
Hence we see incidents like yours of "additional charges".
