Hi Everyone,

Buying a W215 CL doesn't seem the most sensible idea, according to the Internet. Having done a lot of research, I decided to go for it anyway!

My other Mercs have been some old end-of-life S210s, both of which I was very fond of. The first being an E320cdi (died due to rust as so many do), and an E430 which is about to go the scrapyard.

Thought both were excellent, even though the 430 caused me a world of pain at times.

Anyway, now I am loving the CL, it is so quiet and stress-free.

Hopefully I won't be appearing too often on here with problems, but of course you can never tell.
:)

Welcome.
Nice car but my mate's cost him thousands and ended up as scrap.
Good luck.

Hi all,
Thanks for the welcomes!

Yep, went in with my eyes open. Mine has just ticked over 67k and had the ABC pump changed at 58k I think, 2ish years ago.
I have read that Pentosin (who make the ABC fluid) have an 02 CL that has had a full flush and change every 2 years....and is still on the original pump. Maybe this is where I should be going with mine.

Hopefully scrap is not where this one is headed in the immediate future!

Anyway, the car has seriously impressed me. I have quite a few questions and hopefully I won't be too much of a nuisance:rolleyes:

At 67k you stand a chance I think. Apart from the vast expense this is one of the best cars I've ever been associated with. I drove the one my mate had and I loved every minute.

Ah hello.

On ABC, every 2 years or 20k, whichever comes sooner for a flush and filter change.

Keep the wheelarches clean...

If you find your car has many lost trim clips (recent discovery of mine) then Amazon sell multipacks for £15.

Thanks Craig, I'll see about a flush and change before the end of the year.

Don’t scrap it. The 215 is too achingly beautiful to go bye byes... it’s worth keeping on the road :)

Sycamore, where in the country are you?

They are beautiful.

There are a few of us with them.... we obv share good taste

Hopefully your troubles will be few,..and cheap to fix.

Welcome to the forum, you’ll have to post up a picture sometime, what colour is your one?

It truly is one of MBs most elegant designs in the modern age. I'd imagine quite a few are getting scrapped now, which is tragic.

I'm in Glasgow.

I have only seen one 215 CL in the wild since I started looking into them, many months ago.

This one is Obsidian Black Metallic, beige interior, not any extras really so no Distronic or cooled seats etc but even so, handsomely equipped, as you are all no doubt aware.

I will post some pictures at some stage.

Here's my first question. Is it W215 or C215? I see both used all the time....a definitive answer would be good!

Good night all! :)
