I'm at the point where everything that had to be done is now sorted. Apparently I now have time to sort out the neglected garden. But, Saturday is wash day!!

Please post those pics....dare you :D
Anyway I think I may have to buy a flamethrower too, the weeds are rife this year
I will be reverting to the water butt soon, 5th. August we’re having a hose pipe ban for 6 weeks
Which leads me to the question, if I connect my hose pipe to the water butt then what? Will MI6 blast in with guns blazing and throw me in clink?

When they put the hosepipe ban in place you may well have a visit from the water board (UU in your case) to threaten you with prosecution as some do gooder will doubtless have reported you for using a hosepipe. That said do gooder hasn't the gumption to have checked what the hose is connected to. Been there, done that and had great joy in pointing out to the water board wot did sell me the water butts that I was being responsible in conserving water from the mains as demonstrated in the lowest usage of water recorded by their meter!!!

I did have some bloke tell me yesterday whilst using the weed burner I was creating a fire risk in this dry weather. Think it was cos I was burning weeds alongside where the car was parked. That its weeds on the driveway, with 2 water butts of water available to quench if required was something he didn't register. I just point a finger

Maybe the sun gets to peoples heads and fries their brains :)

Luckily I have sensible neighbours and only 11 of them, so I can talk to them beforehand like human beings!
Just for completeness I checked the quality in the water butt and it’s 41ppm , so better than mains at 248 ish ppm, not as good as through the filter at 8ppm. I doubt the head in the butt would produce enough pressure to flow through the filter which is a pity....

Took the E Class into Mercedes this morning for a fault on the parking sensors. Every time I stop in traffic, be it lights or whatever, the car seems to think that I'm about to crash into whatever is in front of me and lights all the dash up.

This has been happening for a while now and typically I forgot to mention it on it's last service where it behaved impeccably...

They didn't have time to do it today but have it booked in for next week. This morning it's behaved itself again, so I'm hoping that some faults have been stored though for some reason I doubt it. :(

Yeah I’d definitely for up for that, where abouts is everyone having lunch? And what sort of time?

Admiral Nelson pub around midday. If you drive through Braunston village from the marina end turn right opposite the chippy down Dark Lane - the pubs at the end of the lane.

They do work well don’t they. I like the cockpit mode for monitoring stuff.

It’s in the settings in general. Change it to ‘in miles - average age vehicles’

Today I fitted a second 12V socket in the car, this one into the boot to provide power for a travel fridge.

As I don’t have a fuse box in the boot to tap into, I’ve connected directly to the battery terminals.

First. Find your source of power.

D3A1ED53-B7FA-4866-8BA7-D71B5A919AC1.jpeg

Second. Buy a 12V socket. This was £5.86 from Amazon Prime, it is of the panel mount type and terminates in simple spade connectors. I bought some high temp resistance hookup wire , crimped spade terminals on the end and fitted them to the socket assembly. Black to negative and red to positive.

Third. Identify the location for your socket to be fitted. Due to space behind panelling issues, mine is going here, conveniently next to the battery.

CC2026CC-AE84-4D42-A614-9CD207456EB7.jpeg

Fourth. With a hole saw, cut an appropriately sized hole into the trim you wish your socket to be mounted into.

Fifth. Insert the socket in wires first. Pull the wires through and feed the clamp nut back along them to meet the socket backshell. Tighten up until the socket is locked in place.

Sixth. Add an inline fuse to prevent fire/ explosion/ death. These were £7 from Amazon for a pack of 3. Connect up to your power supply.

Eight. Reattach your trim, connect your appliance and you’re good to go.
