So I bought a wreck sl500 and replace both deployed air bags and the srs module but the codes still are not clearing will a low auxiliary battery would be causing me not to clear the codes? The 9077 code clear but the other 2 haven't
Any suggestions would be great

I get code 9183 driver etr ignition squib

in your pic 9033... did u replace the crash sensors on the front of each front chassis leg ? no idea if they need to be swapped out but one on mine died having done nothing in life

I wouldn't attempt to fix or diagnose a electrical issue on a Merc with a low battery. Get it on a power supply before trying anything (these old ones cause lots of issues on the good days)

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
There's more than just airbags to replace,
there's a airbag module inside the back of the seat (ETR R12/1 9183 squib),
check connections under the seat as well.

Its probably easier to find a complete exterior sensors and interior (seats, seat-belts, airbag kit etc)
Just had to do this with a Captiva and clone the old SRS unit to activate the immobilizer for the vehicle.

o_O Would it not have just been kinder to let it die in peace .....

Ive sent more Mercs to the scrap yard due to "beyond economical repair" than any other marque.

A complete Captiva/Antara leather interior from a donor vehicle with all airbags and SRS module was £450 and took 4 hours to replace and re-code, if I wanted the 2x keys and ecu ignition lock etc another £50 but Ive done these before and cloned the SRS.

If it had been a Mercedes ........................£££££££

Just open the back of the car seat and look for it
usually 3/4 of the way up.

I'm doing this from memory but the R12/x system of labeling the various SRS components may differ from vehicle to vehicle, but iirc R12/1 starts with the driver seat on 2 door vehicles but double check to make sure.

Have you installed and programmed the SRS unit changing the Vin number
as you need to sync the replacement unit with the vehicle ?

MB Star
In developer mode:

Adapting the SRS control unit to a new car (different configuration, different VIN).

"First of all erase all present error codes in the unit if possible. If there are current faults the airbag module might not get properly reinitialized.

Then proceed to the menu control unit adaptations -> special functions -> Control Unit is released.

From this point do not turn the ignition off or reset the control module. Proceed to the menu option “initial startup” where the current configuration will be reinitialized and new VIN can be written to the control unit.

Please pay attention to the specified configuration (ie. Does the car have rear side airbags?) otherwise you will end up with a controller that does not recognize airbags installed in the vehicle.

After completing the initial startup, reset the control module (cycle ignition) and erase all fault codes resulting from the startup process"

No. I too have a Snap On scanner, its not a bad tool, but not extensive as STAR and it has its limitations.

Airbag modules are chassis coded and cannot be reprogrammed from one car to another because it stores crash data. There is a company called ECU decode that will erase the crash data and re-install the vin details for you. They charge around £150 to do this. A good company to deal with too.
