You may have sentimental reasons for keeping your car, but surely the best approach is to sell your car in the UK and buy an LHD car in Spain? Even with the lights made legal, you will spend a lot of time on the wrong side of the car whilst driving, trying to overtake, manouvering in car parks...
The grill looks to have a built in connector, and I believe some MB vehicles do actually have illuminated stars, so worth a hunt around (or find the explored parts diagram) to see if it just plugs in.
It's off the internet so no guarantee it's true, but it seems there is no coding needed.

Just checking - how are you connecting? On mine (W213 rather than W205), you have to connect by cable, and you have to use the USB socket in the centre trinket tray - it doesn't work with the sockets in the centre arm rest.
Don't rule out the main dealers. I bought one a few years ago for my GL, and the dealer was actually cheapest of all the places I tried (all be it by only £1 IIRC) but you get genuine MB (rebadged Varta?) and you know it's the right fitment for the car.
Really not sure what to make of practice today. Are Mercedes genuinely competitive? Are Reb Bull sandbagging? If the sessions are truly representative, it could be a much more interesting season that last year.
If you want a real "bargain" (and you're prepared to take the risk) check out the used prices on a 1 year old EQS. Even from main dealers, they've lost £30k -£40k in a year!! You can pick one up for under £70k on a car with a £110k list price.
May or may not be helpful, but I had something similar on my W220 many years ago, and it turned out to be a micro switch in the boot handle that was dodgy.
If Ron Dennis hadn't left him out too long in China, he'd already have eight world titles, but hindsight is a wonderful thing (and let's not mention Abu Dhabi 2021)
It's very much a personal view point. Personally I paid the extra subscription when the free one ran out. Others swear by third party things such as Wase, but for me, the convenience of it being fully integrated all the time without having to plug things in and select Android Auto / Apple...
There have been issues with the MB data services for the last few weeks, but they seem to be mainly resolved now. Have you had the car from new? Judging from the tone of your post, it sounds like it may be a recent acquisition? If it had a previous owner, then the car Wil need to be...
The shame is that the dealers don't seem to be aware of this. I explicitly asked when booking my car in they weren't aware of any general issues. Also, I was premature with my comment above. It is still unreliable connection which makes sense given Srdl's post.
Touch wood, since they did the software update it's been ok, though sometimes takes a couple of minutes to show traffic, but I think it's always done that in occasions.
