As has already been said, the boot mechanism is extremely heavy so be careful when you do it.
Once I'd done mine the boot would lift about 6 inches when using the drivers door release button.
My bank, Barclays, recently stopped providing breakdown cover with the bank account, so I did a lot of research. Personal cover for me and SWMBO with LV was the best option.
Most have age restrictions which mean the SL wouldn't be covered 2005. The other 2 are both 2017 so no problem.
We recently moved to the area from Kent so a reliable indy was needed.
I'm actually closer to Dereham so maybe a little too far out for you but I've found Prestige Automotive Services excellent. Give Matt a call on 01362 695906.
Our other 2 cars Range Rover and Abarth both have indys closer...
Not fixed yet but indy found the cast metal bracket at the end of the bowden cable HD fractured right through. Clearly the cr is ****ed at me for making it live outside having been in a garage for many a year.
New part ordered and will be fixed when it arrives. Part is about £13.
Yesterday I opened the drivers door to exit the car and it was stiff and went completely slack like something broke as I pulled the door handle. The door did not open and the internal handle just flaps around and does nothing. I can wind down the window and open the door with the outside handle...
Easy is not a word I would use as a solution. I recently upgraded my 350 with a Kenwood unit and the dealer was able to do it. It is however, expensive and complicated. Have a look through my previous posts for details. The Kenwood unit is good and uses Android Auto or Apple Car play.
I replaced mine with used items from the Bay. The seller had upgraded his SL to smoked lenses so had the originals up for sale. Mine just had a few Leds out but the new ones were complete so looked a lot better.
Yup. Steering wheel controls all working. The only thing I can't do is adjust the original clock, in the centre of the dash. It's a bit annoying as it loses a minute per day and is currently 10 minutes behind the Kenwood. Perhaps someone with Star can switch it off.
My guy fitted a DAB aerial on the nearside of the windscreen, adjacent to the A pillar. Works OK although it does drop signal when I get out into the sticks.
Sounds like the same problems they had fitting the HU to mine. Fibre optic and downstream amp meant it needs someone with experience to fit it. The first retailer couldn't but 2nd one could, and did.
In the end it's a great HU and brings the car into the 21st century.
Only minor issue is...
My HU had been playing up recently; random cutting out for no reason and mapping not showing although voice directions fine, so I bit the bullet and had a new HU fitted.
Original HU is
New Kenwood DMX 5020 DABS
Looks very OEM IMO and does all the modern things like running apps, DAB radio...
I had Goodyear Eagle F1 fitted to the rears of mine. They are marked MB. They've been on a few months now and seem fine. Wearing OK and dry and wet roadholding seems fine.
Bought mine from Blackcircles with local fitting.
