I always stand & watch the tyre fitters jack the car up. The last set I had were fitted at home by a mobile tyre fitter, he used 2 air bags to lift the car.
I seem to remember my W208 sounded better that the W209 I replaced it with.
The system on my current 212 E350CDI, is worse that both of the CLK's.
But I am not prepared to spend money on it.
I remember we had to take the whole fleet of R1200RT's to Piddocks in Nottingham to have the final drive oil changed in about 2006/7. They were only about 2 years old at the time, none would have done more than 10K miles.

BMW motorcycles thought the same with their final drives sealed for life, but not any more.
Loads of problems early 2000's, now they have oil changes.
We had a R1100RT in the police the final drive caught fire on the motorway, scrapped as a result.
A friend of mine had the same problem with the same model of car about 3 years ago, picked up on a MOT test with a non MB garage.
He took it to MB & part exchanged it for a newer one. BM never noticed it & there was no come back.
As regards shock absorbers expect to replace them after 10 years...
The kick down on the SLK200 was leisurely particularly if it went down 2 gears, better to use the paddles.
The kick down on the SLC with the 9 speed box is really quick.
A long while back I bought a set of break pads for a Clio 1.4 from Halfords, & they wouldn't fit. Took them back checked the data sheet on the shelf which said I had the correct one. Rechecked on their database the number was different, The data sheet was incorrectly printed.
Anything before about 2004 will not be galvanised, so lots of rust.
Dont forget the E270CDI, I had a CLK270CDI did 120K miles in it very reliable, no engine issues.
I have owned cars for 56 years & up to 20 years ago did my own servicing. Oil changes were done at the manufactures recommended millage normally 12K miles using Duckhams oil mostly.
About half of those cars had over 100K miles on the clock when sold, & I haven't had a single engine failure.
