I guess the acid test will be if the cost of owmership stays the same - you pay more for the car, but get more when you sell it.
Is that likely....hmmm... Even as used cars MBs still have to compete with others in the market.
GFVs on finance should have increased when the sales strategy...
I know it's a different car but my wife's 2 litre diesel Tiguan is interesting in that it can display the engine oil temp. It's well into the teens of miles of rolling driving before it's at 90C.
In her car, and I wouldn't be surprised if all modern cars are like this, the water temp gauge...
The chain would throw up an EML eventually anyway, and / or become noticably noisy. Do any of them just break?
I don't agree on the "out of date faulty map with bugs and errors" - it's worked fine for years, leave it alone. It's not like a computer that needs constant updates as other...
You do have to wonder what the point of software updates is on older cars - it's asking for trouble if the car is working fine.
Took wfe's 7yr old VW Tiguan to the dealer recently and they said they'd be updating the emissions system (it's a later car, not affected by the VW emissions scandal)...
They were optional on some cars - although I thought it was only the 4cyl models - and it made them EU4 and reduced company car tax.
Some info here, https://dieselnet.com/news/2003/08daimler.php but things were all a bit messy at the time - my Oct 2004 built but 2005 model C270 didn't have...
I wonder if the "under standard warrranty terms and conditions" statement is significant - and they're only going to do where there's MB service history, or at least some other recognised service history?
I think in the UK they've been doing it as goodwill.
Now my MB had gone I'm using my wife's Tiguan and that's currently on 16" winter tyres that are 65 profile. It's like driving on balloons but even so the odd pothole that I don't see or can't avoid still makes me shudder.
I guess as you go up in size (both diameter and width) then even at low...
Must be an issue in other countries too - they have roads just as bad, if not worse, than ours.
Seems bafflling that manufacturers routinely fit such large wheels / low profile tyres.
I agree with you - seems most strange by MB UK and to me is is an entirely comparable situation.
I thought manufacturers were trying to do away with options though, in order to be able to standardise production more - yet I was looking at a VW the other day and range of options seemed immense...
I put All Season tyres on my car some years ago. They easily did more mileage than the Michelin Primacy's that had been on before - they were still on the car and looking good when I sold it.
I don't know what the snow performace was like - in 6 yrs I never got to drive it on snow! They were...
Ah - well that might be significant!
The scheme can impose whatever conditions it likes. Maybe they're unenforceable - who knows? Could be the sanction would be to forbid further purchases under the scheme.
You seem to be mixing terms - paying off and settling are more usually PCP (personal contract purchase) terms. PCP works like HP.
"Lease" relates to Contract Hire.
Daughter has that engine - 110PS version which I think is same as in OPs car - in a SEAT Ateca 6 speed manual.
It's not a "ball of fire" of course but I have to say it drives very well with quite a lot of torque low down.
For no particular reason we'd no history of VAG group cars in our...
I just got rid of my S203 and one of the things I don't miss is the "drift" (actually the way it adds left lock so if there was enough space it would eventually end up in a full left lock circle) to the left.
I went to a very ordinary tyre place a couple of days ago to get the summer wheels and...
My daughters are in their mid 30's and I can't let them take cars to dealers themselves - I've tried and, basically, dealers just try and steal their money.
Dealers seem to be unlike other businesses who will take a look at a problem and then quote to fix it. The investigation is routinely...
I just sold mine so can't look in the handbook, but I remembered S = Standard,
I've got a pdf of a US W203 and that says S Sport, for standard driving!
I'm a 'wafting along' kind of driver but only ever drove mine in S. In C it was just too dimwitted - it was especially an issue from start as...
I guess the GLE might have lower overall gearing. Is running a 4cyl 'comfortable' at 1250RPM? With a quick search I can't find the lock-up charts but I recall the box doesn't fully lock until very high speeds. I could be way off, but wonder whether it might produce better economy in 8th...
Genuine question - how do you know it's in 9th, does it display the gear number?
I thought the 9 speed box didn't get to 9th at UK speeds, and doesn't lock-up until much higher speed.
Fuelly has only one example of this model and says 28MPG. Honest John says 33MPG but doesn't doesn't give any details.
You could easily find the display reading is 5 or even 10% better than the real calcuated MPG.
What did you drive before, and what MPG did you get?
