Its much simpler than that. As you have Media interface, all you need is a Viseeo WMA 3000A cable. This plugs into the media interface and you can then pair your phone to it and get full streaming. Have a look on Amazon or Ebay.

That looks like the early TV tuner. Its common for it to fail and will cause all sound to stop. What you can do to test it is to remove the fibre cable from the tuner and dismantle the plug to reveal the two ends. Make sure you remove enough tape from the fibre pair to carefully loop one...
