190E, E220 COUPE W124
Evening,

New to the MB owners club although have owned a number of classic Mercedes Benz.

W124 E220 Coupe in Beryl Blue with only 40,000 Miles
Mercedes S600 V12 Bi-Turbo
Mercedes 190E Sportline
Mercedes 190E 1.8 Manual
These are the most recent owned.

Im currently having an issue with my 190E 1.8 Manual.

Upon cold start it starts up perfect on first turn of key. Once warn and stopped when trying to start back up it stuggles to start. Then there pops from the exhaust as if its miss-firing. Like it has a lack of fuel?

Once started it runs rough for a few moments & then back to normal.

I've checked the distributer cap & was fine with no water ingress. The leads were also good.

You can hear the fuel pump & the starter motor is also good.

I've heard its quite a common issue on the 190E?.

Any help is truly appreciated.
PS car comes with a full MB main dealer service record.

Hello and welcome.

On a more up to date car it would be logical to suggest the crank position sensor as a culprit, though I'm not sure on the 190E.

Hopefully someone will be along to come up with a solution though, if not, it's always worth a look on the Mercedes 190 forum.

A wealth of knowledge over there on these cars and some helpful people too.

i have had similar from an iffy MAF. on a 320 .as above consult the 190 forum , sure to have happened to others , even an iffy plug might cause this good luck.

Smart + others :)
Try looking under the inlet manifold for a 1 inch hose that has come adrift.
