A friend of mine has just told me of 1972 SLC350 converbible for sale. Its got 200k miles on the clock, colour is black. Its also had a small engine fire, most of engine wiring is fine and there was little damage to the bonet.IT WAS ON THE ROAD UP UNTIL RECENTLY AS it is still taxed.
I have always facied one but up until now didnt really look into it.iF WE ASSUME ITS MECHANICALLY SOUND WHAT SHOULD ONE PAY FOR THE LIKES OF THIS CAR.

Hope i am placing this thread in the right place, if not apologies, the CAPS also.

I may be getting my models mixed up, but an SLC isnt a convertible, its the hard top version. Nicky is being a bit nasty on the price, but only a bit. Rust is the killer and even in perfect condition these cars do not have the same attraction as the soft top. Dont ever assume anything other than the worst, if you cant drive it because of the engine fire then I would walk away.

Mark.

um - that an SL - not an SLC - the SLC - as noted above - is the fixed hard top version - it has (IMHO) an ugly weird rear pillar - the removeable hard top of the SL does not.

Theres a 113 - rusts - but ;last of the rounder SLs -(2.3L - 2.8 litre?)
the 107 (based on the 123?) as discussed here (2.8 - 5.6 Litre)
the 129 - much newer - very 80's lots of engine choices (2.8 - 6.0)

then theres the exotica - stuff like the 300SL - which (being presumptious) may be out of your price range (i saw a gullwing chassis go for 1/4 million)
